[QUOTE="eyehatehippies:1137935"]If yer interested in reading it... PanzerBastard - Centurion Reviewed by Andy "Dinger" Beresky (www.StonerRock.com) PATAC Records Boston's PanzerBastard have been kicking around for a bit, and they're notorious for their high octane live shows as well as their "fuck off and die" attitude. That's always a winning combo, but I was curious how it would translate to the recorded medium. On this EP, they defiantly prove that it works out pretty well. These five songs showcase what this band is about, and the range that they're capable of. "Life Waster" is a crusty, metallic number in the vein of Discharge, but with a keen melodic sense during the chorus that makes it catchy as fuck. They follow this up with the slower and uglier "Centurion", which sounds like a crustier version of Autopsy's death metal played at doom tempos. Great track, the killer riff and guitar squeals at the end of the tune really hammer it home. Next off we have a couple covers, the first being the Celtic Frost song "I Won't Dance", which may seem like an odd choice. However, PanzerBastard make it their own, and inject enough attitude into their performances to turn it into a defiant statement of intent. "The Usurper" is a lot more of an obvious cover choice, and they do it justice. "Fatherless Son Of A War Machine" closes out the EP, and it's another winner. As the drums fade in from a wall of echo, the band highlights their NWOBHM influences and tendencies, with more traditional metal leanings and some cool harmonized lead guitar. It's still delivered with a punk/hardcore attitude, and it's a cool track to close things out with. When all is said and done, this is a great EP and a fine way to introduce yourself to the band. Apparently a full length album is in the works, but until then, this should give you a taste of what one of Boston's finer metal bands has in store for the world. Recommended.
