And some rentacop with his portable xray machine and $5 sungalsses at border patrol isn't going to have the tools and knowhow available to crack good encryption.

Exactly, and to crack an encrypted harddrive using currently FREELY available encryption techniques will still take the most powerful supercomputer years to crack.

If anyone's civil liberties feel threatened by this, and they think it's some scheme to introduce the Amero or one world currency, then I hate you and we're not friends.
