1.who is planning on coming to make beer in attleboro one week from tomorrow?
2.every brewer here, tell us about the strongest and/or most creative bacth you have ever brewed.
3.i found out something cool.
wanna brew, but the brew supply shop is closed?
go to the grocery and get somebakers yeast and "Malta Goya" (it is made with malts and hops.) (one case = 2.5 gallons)
if you want to make a beer with that and nothing else....you can, it is (roughly) 1.050 original gravity...it will make a nice session beer. pour it in the brew pot, heat to 180, turn the heat off, cover it and leave it for fifteen minutes, pour it in the fermentor, cool it, add bakers yeast.
or if you want to make something stronger/more complex, just boil the maltagoya (like you would the water in an extract batch), and add other fermentables that you can get at the grocery store (honey is best, because most other fermentables will give it too much of a cidery flavor, but you can add - for flavor and alcohol - molasses, brown sugar, table sugar, maple syrup etc.)
also, you could buy 3 cases worth and boil it down to five gallons (more alcohol, less water, and nice flavor from kettle caramelization)
just a lil knowledge
