You have a point but the past atrocities of the Church were mistakes made by men that wished their own will, instead of God's. There is a lot of good Christians do in the world but people are quick to point out when we do something human.

I would never make an excuse for the actions of those in the past who persecuted others, by the way. But I will say that the Church is redeemed by grace.
