I agree with Goatcatalyst about almost everything he mentioned. Nick Cave and the Birthday party have some of the best romantic/phsycotic songs around. I saw Nick at the Orpheum in 2001 and it was moving. His album "No more shall we part" has some awesome minimalist drumming, and fantastic string parts performed by "The dirty three". (they sat in for the whole album, the dimension they add to the bad seeds really puts them over the top)
