Only difference is the 1.8 is DOHC, the 1.5 and 1.6 are SOHC, and if you really wanted V-tech but didn't feel like doing a whole swap, just swap the head, computer and solenoid. It's really only about a half a days work. But, what I really wanted to say is yes, those cars did come with a v-tech option.
