sadly, dumb impressionable teens is the reason crap like this exists. that and money. this shit sells so well because dumb impressionable teens are hanging around malls everywhere relentlessly searching for ANYTHING to make them look "cool". teenagers go through periods of rebellion, they want to break out on their own; people in marketing know this and they cater directly to it by painting an image for these kids to strive for. what's more rebellious than a man who wears girls' makeup, all dressed in black, covered in tattoos, and plays in a rock n roll band? oh and by the way, girls just fucking MELT over guys like that. sex will help you sell anything.
it's fucking disgusting, but at least we know that these douchebags are completely fake, everything about them is carefully crafted to sell to a wide audience. we know what real fuckin rock n roll is all about, whether it be in the form of hardcore, thrash, death/black metal whatever... the underground is the only place you'll find bands and fans who do what they do for true love of the music, and i personally take comfort in knowing that fact.
