yeah rev can you email directions (or erections, but not both) to thetasteofsilver@yahoo.com ?
I'm pretty sure Alex remembers how to get up there, but it's good just in case we forget.
I think Jay-ganihm and Kyle are coming with us. Kitschy. |
i'm working on photos and listening |
im going to go out on a limb and say that someone(s) in ToS were at one time into the band saetia. |
nick -
hardy har. :P
but yes.
popular comparisons - botch, converge, hot cross, saetia, ed gein
I'm really glad you were pumpin' the jams though. Thanks for listening!!!! really. |
yeah I'd say the biggest influence for us isn't from any one band or style...we just wanted to make our sound, our own niche, and even if that meant we did that over the course of our material as opposed to any one song, well then so be it.
but yeah that list of comparisons isn't necessarily what we put into the music (though I love Converge and Botch) but it's more what people hear in what we do. We're just putting together sounds. I'd be a louse if I said people aren't in some ways bringing out their influences and writing them down, but I'd also be a rat if I said that music is nothing more than that.

playing tonight was so exciting for me. I've been wanting to play RttP for like 2-3 years now...ever since I went up to the show Christmas Eve back when and saw Between Two Thieves and Carbon Asphyxia live on the air. So this was a pretty big milestone for me...and I'm pretty sure for Rowan and Alex. Plus we pretty much birthed the band at the January 5th Aganihm performance at RttP. So there you have it.
Thanks so much to anyone who listened or will listen. It means a lot and it was a great time!!! |
that was a fun ride to durham. tos ripped and an aganihm track got played. also, for the record...I AM IN A BAND GODDAMNIT. |
damn.. mikey these mp3s sound awesome! |
Botch already did the hardcore O Fortuna deal. But at least you guys did it a little bit different with your version. |
the problem with us covering that is, well, I really like that song. A friend and myself got a copy of the Carmina Burana and were like THIS IS SOME EVIL SHIT and then we read the lyrics to O Fortuna, and I don't know if you ever read them, but they are fucking borderline deadly. It's all about how life kicks you in the stomach and stomps on your hopes and dreams, how fate can lift you up but throw you right back down harder than it did before.
That coupled with the immensity of the piece (it is one of the most memorable operatic songs, as well as the most widely used for effect) meant we had to perform it.
It was a hard call whether or not we should play it, cause there's so much pressure in modern "extreme" music to be so groundbreaking, which we do try to do more out of what we consider a necessity (sink or swim, in some ways) of the genre. We did it once at our 3rd show, and we've gotten requests for it then. Botch did cover it, but we also felt like not doing something because someone else had pioneered it wouldn't be so true to ourselves. |
yeah I dunnow if Mikey reads the board, but dude great job. I think I accidentally turned my mic off at one point, but I mean the fact that you got such a big sound out of everything is impressive. |
i was passed out before yous guys played. i gotta hear these songs. it's such an intense feeling to be playing your music while knowing your being broadcast live. the library i'm at doesn't have the proper codec to play them here. i'll have to go to a friend's house or get a copy off of you. do you have/was there an interview segment of the show? and nick, i need a new cd, the backside of mine is flaking off. thanks for the hook up with that show in R.I. we got on it. how did the show in N.Y. go?
side-note to you, the rev, and all RTTP ers;
aftr practice on monday nights in our jam space we attach a coahanger intertwined with an oldschool piece of a cymbal stand to the back of the of the stereo then we take a web of used guitar strings and attach the apparatus to the ceiling pipes in that old mill building in order to get reception for the rev's show. when i say we i mean i because i'm the one who does it. the others benefit from the fruits of my labor. |
Awesome you guys got on that show. Let me know how it goes.
A new CD is all yours, buddy.
i will tell you in person (or via email) the craziness that was the NY show, but it went well, thanks for asking |
to anyone that cares, i haven't changed my clothes since then.
prepare to see me wearing the same thing tomorrow night!!
thats frigging great to hear satsf got on the show friday. i cant wait to play with those bastards again. |
yeah those guys are such great dudes.
i love making friends when i play a show. |
you rule nick. boston needs more people like you. |
wow...
thanks blue!!! |
by the way, get large shirts. |
hey if you listen to A New Kind Of Fundamentalish, the reason the guitar cuts out at that breakdown part is because I have these ancient slide-type switches on my guitar and I bumped one.
If you look at the pictures you'll see what I mean.
that guitar is my buddy!!! |
I'm so pissed we missed that NY show. kyle and I went to alex's at 8:30 in the morning. I had to call in to work. I told my boss that I found blood in my feces and I had to go to the hospital. so we get to alex's and he's not fucking home. apparently he was upset because he couldn't figure out how to get home from derry, and somehow it was mine and kyle's fault. women. go figure. |
oh lame man.
yeah we had like a ton of stuff you guys could play...like RttP, or split with us some shit in PA (the other band that was gonna fill in for TFL couldn't make it) or at O'Briens.
oh well, life moves on. |
we just got the shirts back in.
sick |
