I have heard that this album sucks, so i stayed away from it... then i got bored and downloaded it. this album is awesome. what is everyone's problem with it?

i think this album was just an expirement, Martin left right before this album began and i think maybe they thought they should change directions. and they had a one time drummer for that album then they came out with the light at the end of the world (with the attitude of 'we dont need a violin') and the new drummer shaun, who is one of the best drummers ever

i strongly dislike this album totally unlike all their other albums i think the only good song on this album is the first one "the whore the cook and the mother"
i read in a recent interview that arron himself regrets making the album, they wanted to try something different because other doom bands like anathema and paradise lost changed their style, so they gave it a try
happy that they didn't stick to it
to me i find it not pleasing to the ear, they lyrics, vocal changing, techno beats and other strange stuff, not my cup of tea
you can so tell they were on drugs for this album

why would you lose respect for a band that tried something different? its a natural thing for bands wanting to evolve their sound... they did just that and recorded an album and put it out. its a great album with a killer atmosphere and while it isnt as good as The Dreadful Hours or Light at the End of the World or Songs of Darkness, Words of Light... its still a great listen. check it out sometime. hell... ill even send it to you online if you really want... provided that you have cable or dsl.
