toggletoggle post by JoeDavolla  at Jul 17,2004 9:46pm
LOL!!! I meant to say "most brutal riffs from what Death Metal bands"

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Jul 17,2004 10:11pm
I think people also have a different definition of what brutal is supposed to mean.

Ohhh, like, what death metal bands come up with the most brutal riffs?? Yeah, I gotta go with Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, and even though I don't really like them, Cannibal Corpse.

morbid angel? cannibal corpse? yes, bow to the old masters, seeing as how they built everything and fucking rule. but brutal? no. heavy and evil as shit, but they cant even compare to the kill-you riffs pumped out by bands like:

DEVOURMENT
disgorge (ca)
all shall perish
sect of execration
aborted
wormed
beheaded
ton
deaden
entorturement
signs of dying
saprogenic
torsofuck
jasad
dying fetus
guttural secrete
vomit remnants

and the list goes on...modern death metal is the auditory equivalent of being hit in the face with a brick.

Hate Eternal, Malevolent Creation, Decapitated, Decrepit Birth, Gorgasm, Goratory, Deicide, Deeds of Flesh, Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity, Wasteform, Morbid Angel, Psycroptic, Obscenity, Severe Torture, Disavowed, Vader...

toggletoggle post by heimdall  at Jul 18,2004 4:49pm
melodic death metal has the best riffs , I dont know what defines brutal as in riffs though, I could play open notes and make them sound brutal

toggletoggle post by mike_fod at Jul 19,2004 12:18pm
Demilich, Disgorge (cali), Necrophagist, Mortal Decay, Signs Of Dying, and Cryptopsy have the most punishing and creative riffs in Death Metal. Best of the best...

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Jul 19,2004 12:20pm
spawn of possession has some the most brutal riffs i've ever heard.

toggletoggle post by mike_fod at Jul 19,2004 12:21pm
Yeah, their riffing is pretty damn technical. SoP is good and all, but it's not something that keeps my attention for long periods of time, like other bands of this ilk can do.

Hey Heimdall open notes ??? You must be dumb apparetnly you havent heard much DM. Litsen to Diego's playing on she lay gutted and tell me that isnt involved?
Signs of dying
Deeds of flesh ( Gradully melted after that everything just sounds the same)
Gorguts ( especially on obscura)

I definatly agree with mike on the SOP comments.

no! i refuse to believe that i ever enjoyed grindcore ever in my life! the solos on syphonies of sickness are way too good! and theres obvious structure to the songwriting process! it cannot be!!!!! its not true! its not!!

I don't hear any bands that sound like Disgorge cali, or Signs Of Dying. Those two bands have some of the most intricate riffing in metal. SoD's Desire IS Suffering mcd is like the Cryptopsy of the US. Devourment are pretty original for pulling off the all out slam style. All the clone bands coming out now don't measure up to the sound they captured. Disconformity and Glossectomy are the closest though.

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Jul 21,2004 12:18am
I think if every death metal band, with the exceptions of Repulsion and Nunslaughter, died in a plane crash tomorrow, I wouldn't care.

toggletoggle post by JellyFish at Jul 21,2004 1:28am
nunslaughter rules

Everyone Needs To Listen To NECROPHAGIST!!! Onset of Putrefecation, or something like that, most amazing riffs ever heard, he made the whole cd himself, used a drum machine, but hey, that takes a lot of fuckin time, but for real... do it.
