Wow, I wonder what really is going on here.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 3,2004 2:46am
mmmm.... brains....

3 thumbs down to worcester for making me drive around construction and getting stuck down some road made out of chainlink fences. I guess it was some sort of crappy hot-rod, burn out, trashy car thing. I hated it.

the show was suppose to be upstairs, but they moved it downstairs cause it sold out in the pre-sales. Seems that a lot of mall-kids wanted in on the unearth experience.

black my heart: the singer was late. he got in just as the band was starting up. I guess they went on earlier than they were suppose to. the sound for them sucked. usually, the vocals and guitars are comeplete clear, but the shape of the room and the failure of the sound guy to turn them up load enough made it just to echoey. what saved it for me was that I knew a few of the songs so I could sing a long with them. Also, it seemed like all the kids in the audience knew the lyrics too. lots of singing along. They are most-likely going to be doing a live set on rttp on july 12th.

a thousand falling skies: I've seen these guys DESTROY shows in CT, but again, they had the same exact sound issues as BMH. unfortunately, I couldn't get into their set at all cause I didn't really know any of the tracks. also, the mics were way off so the clean vocals came out too flat.

seemless: stoner 70's rock. to say that I didn't like them doesn't cover it. I dislike all that queens of the stone age throw back stoner rock so it didn't surprise me that I wasn't down with them. it seemed like a lot of kids were way into them... i wasn't... if I wanted to hear uriah heep, I would just get one of their cds out of the cut out bin. the sound man got his junk together a bit more for them so the sound quality was at least 2x as good as before. why couldn't this have been done for the first 2 bands?

all that remains: killer set as always. this band has had a new life breathed into them with the new cd. it's like the CDs good and they know it which has charged them up as a band. when they play, they actually are having the time of thier lifes. phil spent more time in the crowd then on stage, inbetween getting oiled up by ken (unearth). before the show, I heard phil talking about hearing a cowbell on the track the deepest grey... during that part of the song, seemless's drummer ran out and played the cowbell for a minute.

unearth: so it was their CD release... sniff... having seen them over the passed 5-ish years and now they are on a "major" metal label, releasing a new full length. they grow up so fast! they played a great collection of tracks ranging their 2 full lengths and 1 ep. they played a ton of stuff off the new cd. thogh I've only heard 1 or 2 tracks from it on CD, i think that that great dividers track is the stand out of the cd. on the drums, mike justin, that kid is an absolute machine. he caught right on to gestures that ken (guitar) gave and then click right into what they are doing. all you haters are going to have to wait to see him in anther techy band.
at some point someone pointed out that buz's fly was down. that was funny.

i didnt go, but i love seeing unearth live.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jul 3,2004 10:43am
i didn't go because unearth makes me angry. the only band i like on that bill is seemless. i know everyone on this board hates them, but they have the COC influenced stoner sound that i loved as a kid, so i enjoy listening to those guys.

toggletoggle post by steve burgerz at Jul 3,2004 11:26am
i didn't go cause the paladium sucks a dick and i always leave thinking i wasted my time and money..... so all i did yesterday was get fucked up

toggletoggle post by Jay TUS at Jul 3,2004 11:29am
I actually love seeing Seemless live. I think they come of really, really well live, much better than they do on CD.

I thought this show was awesome. I had never seen Black My Heart before and I thought they were pretty good. A Thousand Falling Skies sounded great. I've probably seen them like three or four times now and they have definitely gotten better. I think I've seen All That Remains play like 48080593 times this year alone, haha. I love those dudes, they are going to explode very, very soon. And what can be said about Unearth that can actually do them justice? Simply the best metal band I've ever seen perform live. There, I said it.

Fuck my site for being gay and not being able to upload pictures since January. I am so fucking sick of that shit...

toggletoggle post by iamwiggins   at Jul 3,2004 12:48pm
i didnt think seemless sounded stoner/coc at all...it just sounded stupid.

toggletoggle post by dunt at Jul 3,2004 12:50pm
I HATE THE PALLDIUM.

Downstairs, the setup sucks, there is no real crowd room just that little ditch in the front. The rest is all...sitting/drinking room. The sound is always horrendous due to the place being huge and the sound always echoes.

Upstairs the sound fairs better, but it about as big as my room.Thank god this show wasnt up there or everyone would have died of suffocation.

WE NEED more shows at the Axis and Avalon, now those venues are prime.Beautiful sound,Beautiful setup.

The only damn reason why I go to that hellhole known as The Palladium is because the get good show lineups.BRing those shows to any other local venue,And I would SMILE.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Jul 3,2004 1:28pm
i dont like the axis. it's nice, but too small

toggletoggle post by matix at Jul 4,2004 3:47am
it cost me more to park my car then to buy the ticket at the door...

this was by far the best show i've seen in a while.

the pit was fucking brutal. i saw at least 5 or 6 dudes leave bleeding bad.

Its like someone took the cd's in my cd changer and made it a show.

toggletoggle post by TheGreatSpaldino   at Jul 4,2004 4:09am
why was black my heart on this show?

But the thing is, thats this style of music's new fanbase.

I heard Unearth on the radio last night, and Ive come to the conclusion that they are the worst band Ive ever heard.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Jul 5,2004 10:28pm
I was hanging out with ION after ken finished recording drums and bass the day before this show at blue jay studios in carisle, mass... ken told us that he wrote diecast's only decent song "disrepair" when he was in the band and that they don't credit him for it... just a funny little tidbit to throw into this thread.

toggletoggle post by iamwiggins   at Jul 6,2004 2:17pm
why is unearth the worst band youve ever heard...

come on, worst ever?

i dont want to hear some, why ISNT it bullshit.

i want real reasons

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Jul 6,2004 4:59pm
disrepair is like my favorite diecast song

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Jul 6,2004 5:03pm
hahah and diecast didn't even write it, how funny is that?

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Jul 6,2004 5:49pm
some laugh, others cry. but i bet he didnt write undo the wicked or invent the truth. and if he did then i'll just stop listening to diecast...although i have anyways cuz i heard 2 of their new songs and they sucked.

Are you in Unearth? Why does my opinion affect you so much? Its just what I think. I think they're awful, the vocals sound like dead screaming children, the songs have absolutely no warmth or feeling to them, the riffs are so unbelieveably inane. Just my opinion, accept it. I accept yours.

That would be because of the burnouts going on outside and the lack of parking in the area because of it...

Also, to the person who said they need more shows like this at Axis and Avalon, I like and dislike that idea. I like it because both are in fact great venues to see a show. I dislike it for multiple reasons, mainly the fact that they have to start all their shows early and end them early to get the Eurotrash in for dance night. That sucks for the working folks who have a hard time getting to shows for 5:30-6PM doors. Shows are usually over between 10-11PM, cool, but at the same time, kind of sucks. Also, if there is a Red Sox game that night, it'll cost you an arm and a leg to park. But unfortunately that's just the way the ball bounces...

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jul 8,2004 6:44pm
this is just me, but I hate axis and avolon as well. I dont care for wizerd sucerity (assuming they still work there) and I agree about the dance night rule. Its kinda nice that the show gets out early, but look how early you gotta get there.
The middle east is kinda cool, but can also suck in its own ways.
Yeah the sound in the palladium generally sucks, but as far as big venues go (in the area) thats the one. Worst thing ever to happen to me there was last halloween when they wouldnt let me take down that door sized banner with the cartoon haunted house on it, "cause of the budget." Parking is easy as pie if youre smart and look elsewhere, a block away, and its pretty easy to sneak in for free (if you know "the system). Ive been caught of course, but nothing can always be perfect. Anyways...
