Amorphis hasn't been good in a long time, they were awesome in the 1990s.
I actually really like Amorphis's newer, albeit very different, stuff.
Also, Dream Theater. They were amazing up to and including Metropolis Part II. Every album afterwards has had two or three great songs, and the rest be mediocre as fuck IMO.
Exodus had an awesome debut in '85, but never got close to recapturing that spirit (and that recent re-recording was a fucking dumb idea.)
I tried to get into Amorphis 'Far Beyond The Sun' or whatever it was called, then gave up. And they shouldn't have re-done 'Thousand Lakes' (a la Exodus 'Bonded By Blood.') Stupid trend.
I didnt post this but I agree. Suffocation would be my real choice now that Frank Mullen doesnt want to tour. If they start replacing members like Vital Remains (who were once fantastic Spence) it's gonna get so sad and pathetic.
Cryptopsy (new album is ok though)
Iron Maiden (nothing after dance of death is really that good)
Samael
Converge
Entombed
Coalesce
Satyricon
Slayer
Queensryche
Back in 2005-2006, I would have said Overkill, but their last couple albums have been incredible. Almost like that shit they did in the mid 90s and 2000s never happened.

You know, despite all the praise Overkill get for their late 80's/early 90's material and on their last two albums... I really can't get into any Overkill ALBUMS after Taking Over.
I love a few individual songs post-Taking Over, and I definitely love Overkill live, but albums as a whole? Eh.
After Pyromania, they started losing it and now they they're trying to be the Backstreet Boys or some shit. On Through The Night though is a NWOBHM classic.

Iron Maiden is still kicking ass, A Matter of Life and Death is far better than Dance of Death. The rest I can agree with, even though I am psyched to see Queesryche with Todd Lator from Crimson Glory.

I didn't think A Matter of Life and Death was bad, just kind of bland. I thought Dance of Death sounded like almost a sequel to Brave New World which was a kickass record. Final Frontier was pretty bad though.

I'd be content with Iron Maiden only playing live, but none of their new stuff is really that bad. I thought Dance Of Death was probably one of their weakest albums though.
Newer era Converge got me to start liking the band, so I'll disagree with this one too.
Lastly, recent Coalesce material (unless there's some brand new stuff out that I haven't heard about) is awesome.

Doesn't even come close to Give Them Rope or Functioning on Impatience though.
I can agree to a point; most of the older Coalesce songs by themselves are better than individual songs on OX or OXEP, but both of those releases have better flow as albums, in my opinion.
Symphony X. Should've called it quits after V, or MAYBE The Odyssey. Iconoclast, Paradise Lost and The Odyssey are all god awful albums. (The title track on The Odyssey aside, that is)
And live their setlists suck dick.
Let that band end already. And this is coming from someone who fucking LOVES the shit out of Divine Wings, Twilight in Olympus and V.

i used to not be. it took me years to get into them. half because people kept telling me they were bad and i was young and impressionable. but like Mark their later stuff got me into them. then i went back and got into everything before it. and cuz i was dumb and listened to people for some reason, i missed out on many years of enjoyment.
I've heard Ayreon called A LOT of things... but i've never once in my life of power metal concerts and metal forum discussions heard anyone call Ayreon "oldschool."
