“Epic Kings & Idols” will kick off early next month in Seattle, Wash. with co-headliners, The Devin Townsend Project. Paradise Lost and Stolen Babies will round out the line-up for the 18-city, September trek.

VIP ticket packages for all “Epic Kings & Idols” and “Dead Ends of Europe” dates can be purchased online at: http://www.crowdsurge.com/katatonia/.

Amongst Katatonia’s most poignant and ambitious material to date, Dead End Kings sees the quintet conjure yet another milestone in audial angst and melancholy with this long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s inspired and acclaimed, Night is the New Day.

North American pre-orders for Dead End Kings are available in a multitude of formats and bundle packages via Omerch at: http://omerch.theomegaorder.com/Artists_Omerch/Katatonia.

Dead End Kings was recorded at Ghost Ward Studios and The City Of Glass, and was produced by Katatonia’s own, Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse, and mixed by David Castillo, known for his prior work with Katatonia, as well as Opeth and Bloodbath.

Dead End Kings sees the recording debut of guitarist, Per Eriksson, for Katatonia, as well as recent bassist, Niklas Sandin. Additionally, Katatonia is joined once again by Frank Default and his invaluable expertise on sampling and atmospherics, plus a special guest appearance by Norwegian vocalist, Silje Wergeland, of Dutch legends, The Gathering/ex-Octavia Sperati.

Long-time visual collaborator, Travis Smith, provided artwork for the upcoming release.

Katatonia is definitely the band i'm least excited for on that tour in September.

They were awful opening for Opeth last September.

Yeah, they were pretty disappointing the one time I saw them, which was in 2006. But, I'm going to hope for the best next month.

errr...my point in specifying 2006 was that I was hoping maybe they up'd their live game since then, but if you say they were still pretty bad just one year ago, that's not encouraging.

When I saw them in 2010 with Orphaned Land and Swallow the Sun, they were pretty decent.

But with Opeth last year they were just... bad.

Going next month for Stolen Babies, Paradise Lost and Hevy Devy - Katatonia will be my break-band.

i really want to see Katatonia but i've never read a good review about them live. not to mention that the only albums i care about were written between 10 and 20 years ago.
