That "Death To All" tour which is a bunch of musicians playing Death covers, with Gorguts opening(or Obituary if you're lucky to go to the Florida show) played the first show of the tour two days ago:

Death To All setlist:
01. Zombie Ritual
02. Leprosy
03. Within the Mind
04. Torn to Pieces
05. Left to Die
06. Suicide Machine
07. Lack of Comprehension
08. Flattening of Emotions
09. Secret Face
10. The Philosopher
11. Trapped in a Corner
12. Overactive Imagination
13. Bite the Pain
14. Zero Tolerance
15. 1,000 Eyes
16. Crystal Mountain
17. Flesh and the Power It Holds
18. Symbolic
19. A Moment of Clarity
ENCORE:
20. Voice of the Soul
21. Living Monstrosity
22. Pull the Plug

Gorguts setlist:
01. From Wisdom to Hate
02. The Carnal State
03. Orphans of Sickness
04. Nostalgia
05. Stiff and Cold
06. Inverted
07. Obscura
08. The Erosion of Sanity

Death To All's lineup features:
Gene Holgan - drums
Sean Reinert - drums
Steve DiGiorgio - bass
Scott Clendenin - bass
Paul Masvidal - guitar
Shannon Hamm - guitar
Bobby Koelble - guitar
Steffen Kummerer - vocals & guitar
Charles Elliott - vocals & guitar

In my opinion, this is all insanely awesome. Sure, a longer Gorguts setlist would be great(or having Obituary instead of Gorguts) and I definitely feel that there's MUCH better ITP songs they could be playing, and that it bugs me that there's a major lack of Spiritual Healing songs... BUT AS A WHOLE, I think this is going to be incredible to see in New York on the 28th. And to make matters better, it's only 28 bucks - which is considerably low considering reunion/tribute shows like this are usually expensive as balls.

Whose going?

I'd take a Gorguts set over Obituary, any day of the week.

It would also be lovely if they played Clouded live.

As far as Individual Thought Patterns is concerned, I'd say they're performing some of the strongest tracks from that album and I somewhat agree in regards to Spiritual Healing. Lowlife, in particular, would make a worthy addition to the setlist. I'd also be keen on hearing Story to Tell, from TSoP.

Did anyone else here catch Death at Coney Island High back around 1998? I don't think CIH is around anymore and the only other time I was there, that I can recall, was to catch Meshuggah on their first run here in the states.

I'd take a Gorguts or Obituary set over 'musicians playing death covers' any day of the week.

I love Ross so much I don't know how to express it in words, so as a subconscious defense mechanism I just act like a jerk.

I don't really find anything about this show exciting. But then again I've never put Death on a pedestal like most metal fans do.

I like Death, but
A) Death is overrated
and
B) This isn't even Death, it's a cover band

toggletoggle post by trioxin_245  at Jun 27,2012 3:13pm
not trying to be a bummer on the show, it's a good set list at least...

The audience will be a sea of Opeth and Ghost shirts.

Show sold out before I got a ticket. Oh well. More money for Martyrdoom

Holy cock. It was like 200 degrees up in that bitch. Killer show.

Amazing show, that video does no justice due to the fact that it was about 200 degrees in the venue and by the time Crystal Mountain was played they were about two hours into Death's set, after a 45 minute Gorguts set.

The first ten or so Death songs, as well as the encore songs, the crowd was absolutely NUTS.

Gorguts played the same setlist as OP posted, Death To All played the same setlist but also with Spirit Crusher and Scavenger of Human Sorrow as well - so 24 songs total.

Actually, it's worth noting that I only saw two or three Opeth shirts and no Ghost shirts. :P

The crowd was super diverse. There were from people from all over the USA, including some people who were going to each of the seven shows or whatever. OUTSIDE of the USA, I met:

Some people from Montreal
A guy who flew from Toronto by himself
Someone from Purteo Rico (probably misspelled that, ah well)
A huge group of like ten or so people who all came from Germany together in one big group
Some Asians who were speaking, what I think was, Japanese - I don't know if they came from Japan or if they were just locals who preferred speaking Jap though.
A couple from Italy
A small group of Australians (or i'm assuming so, since they were waving an Australian flag around)

Amazing show. If it weren't for the lack of AC and the fact security/the bar weren't handing out water, it would've been ten times crazier because the crowd wouldn't have been dying from dehydration.

It's particularly worth noting that during The Philosopher, the crowd sang the chorus so loudly that I couldn't even hear the vocalist on stage.

And I wanted to cry during Voice of the Soul.

And Gorguts themselves were amazing as well - their vocalist/guitarist/only consistent member has to be the nicest and most sincere frontman in a metal band ever, the only metal musician I can think of who i've ever felt was THAT nice and truly thankful for the fans was Mark Jansen(Epica, MaYan, ex-After Forever) who was an amazingly nice dude even if his bands aren't my thing.

Also,

bennyhillifier

And finally, it's worth noting, that if you look at their FB page or any youtube comments of any of the DtA shows, there is not a single person who didn't have a super positive thing to say. Everyone who went had an amazing time, and some old guy in a Bolt Thrower shirt at the end of the show said that this show was way better than all three times he saw Death in the 90's.

So, awesome shit is awesome.

Also, for any of you Cynic fans out there, it's fucking STRANGE seeing Paul running around and bouncing around stage - so different from his stage presence with Cynic.

Oh yeah, and before I forget, there was guest appearances from Richard Christie, Alex from Testament and the vocalist/guitarist of some Albany-based Death tribute band. Coolshit.

Also met someone from Guatemala, he was pissed at the fact they played six TSoP songs because I guess that's his least favorite Death album. Still cool though, I think he had fun, especially when I saw him during Living Monstrosity with a huge grin on his face.

My least favorite Death album is the one Chuck never got to write
