Over the past few years, the Chicago-based black metal outfit NACHTMYSTIUM has been widely heralded for their unique brand of psychedelic, Pink Floydian black metal. On July 30th in Europe and July 31st in North America, the band is set to release Silencing Machine, their 6th full length album and next celebrated chapter in NACHTMYSTIUM's storied career. Recorded at Engine Studios with the band's own synths/electronics specialist Sanford Parker (YOB, PELICAN) handling Producer duties, Silencing Machine is, as front-man/lead guitarist Blake Judd puts it, "A fuckin' black metal record".

Which is why it is awesome. Few supposed black metal bands are that willing to actually be brave, think outside of the box, try new and different things, and they just fall back on the same old tired black metal cliches. Nacht are visionaries, pioneers, revolutionaries, which is what black metal was supposed to be about before everyone had made up their minds about what was true and acceptable.
