New site? Maybe some day.

I'm finally getting around to listening to these new Burzum albums. I thought these were supposed to be good.
Kind of sounds like Cocteau Twins mixed with regular Burzum. Except, that sounds like an awesome idea, and this sucks real bad. His black metal vocals sound so half assed. Vocals were always my favorite part of Burzum. And the moody humming shit doesn't help.
Is Belus worth a listen? |
I dig it so far, prefer their older stuff though. |
I like the music (not as much as the old stuff) but his vocals are completely different now. The albums grew on me a bunch. |
The old stuff is more appealing to me, new stuff is ok if you listen to it several times and get used to it |
Listening to metal exclusively for vocal is kind of dumb. Just sayin.. |
I hear what he's saying. I prefer the older vocals but Fallen is still a good listen. |
I have this cd but for some reason can't get into it. I liked Belus a lot though in comparison |
Never understood the appeal of burzum. Big deal. You stabbed a dude and burned some churches. You still make shitty music. |
its not THAT bad. impaled in comparison to the 90s stuff tho |

i thought belus was repectable but not great, but fallen i think is awesome, like the way i think beherits engram and autopsy macabre eternal were awesome. like heres an old band reuniting (or finishing prison sentence) that could get by on their name alone but actually has something relevant (and asskicking) to say musically nowadays. Its certainly different than the classic burzum catalog, but thats alot of why i like it and it seems to me (IMHO) to be in keeping with the direction he was going all along before he was forced to do all midi music HAH.

Belus was unfocused, it has some amazing tracks but it wanders a bit. understandably so, the guy hasn't recorded since Filosofem. However Fallen is incredible, he really pulled it together for that one. of course he sounds different, he was in his teens to early 20's when he recorded his masterpieces, now fast forward to late 30's, there is no way he could get the old sounds out of his vocal cords. The magic is still there, it's just greatly matured. the only songs i'm unhappy with are the re-recordings of old material. it was perfect the way it was. Burzum will always be one of my top favorites, i can't wait to hear the new album. i hope it's so different that it gives everyone gas. |

Burzum has always been an overrated suck fest. Welcome to reality.

I don't listen to Burzum for the vocals, but his vocals were always one of my favorite parts. Where some black metal vocalists sound theatric with their delivery, Varg always seemed to scream out full out.
But enough of you seem to favor the album enough for me to give them a second chance. |

right on. belus is trance-inducing for me. fallen has a much cleaner and tighter approach, very effective triple guitar rhythms, and the last instrumental is fantastic. i really dig both, his newer whisper vocals might be tough to swallow but they fit. i'm with yeti in that i hope the next album pisses people off. |
ITT: OMG I'M SO LOYAL TO VARG, HE CAN NEVER PISS ME OFF |
hahaha this came from fake Varg interview:
"Homosexuality has no place in black metal," he thunders, jabbing the air with the stem of his pipe. "It has been scientifically proven that gay men cannot read black metal logos and cannot pronounce the words 'Inn i de dype skogens favn'." |
I liked Belus a hell of a lot better personally. |
I'm With headbanging man. Belus is magic. I hope the new album gives people gas....chambers |
