I just got back.

this was probably the 2nd or 3rd show in 2 years that I didn't drive to. let me tell you, it was awesome not having to worry about driving and stuff. thank you to josh (BSV) for driving us all there.
again, after catching all these NY and NJ bands from another scene, I really want people from down here to trade shows with them.

lost in translation: not at all like the bill murry movie. it wasn't really death metal, wasn't really hardcore. the guitars were pretty straight forward with losts of rhythm fills. the singer hopped over the barricade on the last track and swung around infront of everyone. (driving in the car home: I was also told that they ripped off acdc back in black for one of their songs. I'm being forced to write it here even though I didn't hear it.)

angel death: ended with reign in blood, fitting for the name of the band. some of their riffs were pretty catchy. the vox was pretty evil in a black metal sense.

burial: even though they seemed pissed off to be playing so early, they played awesome as usual. they also had a huge crowd. I'm going to guess that it was the largest of the night. they had a new bassplayer (who stood back from the front of the stage and was hard to shoot) and played a new track. they only asked for a sick pit once instead of the usual over and over and tossing shirts to the sickest pitter. I think it's cause the crowd was actually churning around a bunch. BSV and I think they probably got the best over-all sound of the whole night.

clitorture: they sounded so much better in this place than in the last time which was in a single PA show. these guys will be playing in boston (aug 20th?). People should definitly get out and see these guys there. they have a lot of the really awesome songs that just get better each time I see them. they played a song with a slow churny end to it. thanks for the shout out and sending that song to me. the blast on the drums sounded killer. I think the best song was their last one. the crowd went crazy for the ending dying fetus slammy break down (minus the bass of course).

goratory: after hearing clitorture's drummer, I couldn't wait to hear darren on drums. he's a lot more techie and the house system would sound really good with them. unfortunately, he set up next to the drum spot (the price you pay for having a huge ass drumset) so I think the sound wasn't as good as it could have been. Zak (bass) was too busy at home kissing people and getting mono or playing a good boyfriend or something so he couldn't be there. in his place, the old goratory bass player stepped in (aka max of trauma concept/burn in silence). they ended a song and the sound board said they were done, but then they got one more song, pig fucker of course. they also made fun of the pits... I forget what the term used was (PS? pits suck?)

detriment: these guys were the "special guests"... I'm still wondering why. maybe they are like leukorrhae or malamor. you know, one of those bands that is huge everywhere but their hometowns so on homeground, no one knows them. they started off with a wicked long sound clip.. it had all these orchestra parts and then some golem samples. I wanted the singer to start speaking along with golem, but he didn't. the other samples were sprinkled all over the other songs. I was wondering if spaldino was pitching a fit cause the bass was distorted. Their drummer had a head injury. I want to believe it was from a sword fight or prison break, but it was probably some sort of accident. it didn't affect the drumming at all.

wasteform: tiny (singer) was the one that put on the show. the crowd went nuts of them. they are definitely a local favorite up there. was that a new guitarist? i didn't recognize him. they have gotten so much better since the first time I saw them. though the bass played jumps a lot still and I can definitly still get in him in mid-air. oh, check out their new cd. in the cover, it's all pictures I took.

dehumanized: this was their "reunion" show (even though they played on the maryland death fest). our own kalopsia (bass) and enemyofthestate (drums) were in the band and this was the reason a bunch of us went down for. for not much practice time and also playing only one show before this, they were pretty tight. believe it or not, kalopsia has only played 2 shows on a stage. he called out spaldino on the last song (prophecies foretold) do get him to lay down some bodies durin the break down. I'm still trying to decide if spaldino got served... from the pictures, you can see him laying it down (hitting the singer of lost in translation with an elbow), but there weren't any dead people after. for the last song, we got a reverse ascendancy; the bass player went into the crowd and walked around playing (sorry again to george's, enemyofthestate, gf who was filming and I ran into trying to get pictures of kalopsia in the crowd.) to all the dehumanized fans, we listened to the cd on the way to re-fresh our minds and it sounded BETTER than the cd. that's right, if they come to your town, see them or you are gayer than keanau reaves. (whoah...)

malignancy: finally, malignancy in all their glory. they didn't get cut. they didn't get screwed for time. just them on the stage for 30 whole minutes. they played a lot of tracks thatI know and even motivated by hunger. At some point, the sound got a bit muddy for them. I think the re-verb off the walls and the fact that bodies were slowly leaving caused this. they kept making fun of people who were leaving, but then again, the singer of clitorture claimed that they were homosexual. at one point early in the set, carina blinded the singer so he stay back a bit and was elusive as far as shots go. one of the songs they played went out to girls with big cans. everyone pointed at my gf. folks to quote seinfield "they are real and they are spectacular."

irate: I've been waiting a loooong time to see these guys. they are sort of what you would expect if mad-ball had a metal band. the lyrics are really tough guy. After a few songs, I headed back towards the back of the room. back there, I could really hear all the ooold school slayer-ised riffs they pulled out in their songs. it was really a good show.

yeah... its hard as fuck to keep snapping to such a sick band when you have been awake for over 2 days straight... but i did my best. my middle knuckle on my left finger is definitely broken. there is so much bleeding going on underneath the skin there.

Carina, you're very welcome for the gifts. i was totally happy with the show. it sounded so much fucking better than the maryland fest. it was just brutal. a big thanks to the Wasteform guys for lending us their cabs. the bass cabs i used sounded absolutely amazing. i had a good time. i'll see u guys at next year's New England Metal and Hardcore Fest!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good show, good bands, no second hand smoke. Goratory's drummer is fucking SICK.

Awesome show, unfortunetly I didn't get to see some bands. I was really impressed with the old Goratory bassist learning the new songs in 2 days, they did really good. All the bands I saw put on exceptional shows. . . it sucks we weren't able to play this one, it would have been fun.

Thanks to the RTTP crew for coming down and checking out our scene, I didn't get to say hellos because either A) I didn't know anyone other than the Rev and B) between sets I couldn't find the Rev. Hopefully you guys will be able to make it down for the Clitorture CD release party next month, here's some info:

hey rev. thanks for coming out man. and for the kind words...the shots came out sick as hell. goratory was sick, but i think they got kind of a shitty mix from the sound guy. they played awesome regardless. "george clinton..." is too sick. i don't understand why they don't get bigger pits out here. wasteform always pounds. dehumanized played a much better set than at the metal fest i thought, they fucking blew me away, and it was sick to see such a good response from the crowd. and then there's malignancy...i don't even know what to say about them. heaviest band EVER. i need to take guitar lessons from that dude. ha. thanks again man. see soon i'm sure.

i forgot to mention how gay it was that the sound man cut detriment off mid song during their last one (owned). they sounded fucking sick as always. i love the distorted bass...and the fucking hair!!!! my god the hair!!!!

this show was killer. Burial was pretty tight and they sounded tit. Clitorture is probably my favorite band in the Albany area, these dudes would be sick in a basement show out here. Goratory was amazing as usual, ZACH YOUR WHIPPED, good to see they got to play one more....I bet if they played Piper's Pit, they'd get more people dancing, who knows, this bum knee of mine could heal maricoulsy if that happened. Dehumanized was brutal. It was a priveldge to see these fuckers tearing it up again, especially in an atmosphere like Albany, looking forward to new material. Malignancy owned everyone, those bastards are soliders. The new song was wicked insane. They had great sound too, I pretended I was a dork and analyzed their technique, if I was rapcore I'd call this shit "take your boy to school metal".
Northern Lights was kinda cool. The entire show was definately worth the drive!

Oh by the way, did anyone see the shit swastika on the toilet lid of the 3rd stall toilet seat in the men's bathroom? That was just too much.

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Jun 6,2004 3:12pm
i had heard about that swastika and all i could think was "wow, some white pride retard actually made a swastika with shit uses his own fingers to make it. yea white people!!! we write with our shit!!!! one theory i have is that maybe it meant Nazi-ism is shit

and yea, that was pretty gay that detriment got cut off

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 6,2004 3:32pm
man... I wish I saw that...
time to spend more time in the bathroom at shows.
that's where all the "shit" goes down.

Hey Rev and Succubus,
Thanx for taking the pics of us, they have to be the best pics ever taken of us live. and also a big thanx to those that came down to check us out. We will be coming thru MA,RI,CT area in the very near future.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 8,2004 2:53pm
damn... I'm actually work at work and I've been super busy...
carina, are your pictures up yet?

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Jun 8,2004 6:55pm
Rooster, Currently there's only one active basement around this area that does regular shows and that's the HOSS. I've only been to one show there however, I ran it by Johan (who runs the joint) and he says he's definatley interested, he posts on here as Johan Bloodbath. It would be sick if it was Goratory, Ascendancy, Clitorture. I don't want to put alot of heat on them though just because, I don't like being a dick that demands things from people. I don't know what's up with Providence. I'm sure there's something in CT but the scene there is wicked metalcore. I'm not to familar with NH basement shows but there are a few on this site that Rev went to in the past few weeks. MASS NEEDS A DEATH METAL BASEMENT!!!!!

toggletoggle post by El Justin at Jun 8,2004 9:52pm
Basements/teeny tiny venues have turned out to be the best shows we've ever played.
