New site? Maybe some day.
Someone please explain to me what the big deal is? |
I've been partying non-stop since I got it. |
I don't want to get all conspiracy theory-y.... err is that right? whatever.
Anyway, I dunno how much trust we should be putting into Google/our government (lets just call it the Googlement). I started filling out all my info in my profile and I just got a chill. We're supposed to just tell the Googlement exactly who we are, what we do, where we are, what we like, how to distract us, and exactly how many people we know? What happens when you anger the Googlement? Seems it'd be pretty easy for them to track you down, make you disappear and keep everyone you know from talking about it. |
^bingo.
you are all insane. i know this information can be found anywhere, but why do you willingly submit your entire lives to the eyes of the internet? i just don't get it. UNPLUG. |
google already has my name and all my personal and work emails. i'm exposed as it is. yeti is right, you are all insane. countries use crowdsourcing on google, facebook, etc to sniff out dissenters and make them disappear. think you're safe because you're american? even something so benign as independent companies archiving everything you put on social networking sites, they will sell it to the highest bidder. dertoxia, there's no conspiracy, giving your personal info to people that want to profit from it is stupid to begin with.
nice to see some competition for facerape, so fuck em both. |
Just got an invite. So far I don't really give a shit about aside from just checking it out. |
when I clicked on the invite, it said "not accepting now" |
my abominable hatred for social networking aside, i think google+ will do well, because everyone has google accounts already, and they will make huge bank combining it with all their other services, to know exactly where you are and what you do all day. |
it'll do well because people are fucking lemmings and will follow what's popular straight off the edge of a cliff. you are a slave, and you are proud of it. |
On the internet, having a good product matters more than what is popular. Remember how popular myspace was until people realized that FB was a much better executed project?
And just how is google+ or social networking in general a cliff? |

laying your personal info on the table to make someone else money? or just a major timesink where everybody's personality is on sale? i'm not saying there isn't good or useful things about social media. personally, it's not worth my time. imho, trusting your "friends" or some megacorp with your personal information, activities, politics, doesn't sound like a good idea. the "cliff" leads to a giant data mine which is easily manipulated. |
Google is going to have a strong idea about how I think Mark Zuckerberg has a strong dick. |
Google+ gonna wonder why I'm so consistently at the Pizza Hut, I'm at the Taco Bell, I'm at the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. |

I totally don't disagree with you (I don't and will not have a Facebook or Google+ page), but since we're all still posting on Aaron's gay site, isn't argument slightly invalid? |
I do not care who knows about my occupation or what I'm having for dinner. I really don't. |

If you use the internet, you're willingly giving up info. If you have utilities, a lease, a license, etc...you are willingly giving up info. It is a curious line in the sand to draw. |

I do not care who knows about my occupation or what I'm having for dinner. I really don't. |
from wht I can tell, you want everyone to know that. Just like I want everyone to know what shit in my house this time. |

I thoroughly enjoy knowing when one of my minions shits on your rug. It makes all the time I spend sticking needles in your voodoo doll worth it. |
I do not care who knows about my occupation or what I'm having for dinner. I really don't. |
but somebody else totally does |
So... what exactly separates this from Facebook? |
wrong wiggum. |

A. Pepelis, that's what! |

I do not care who knows about my occupation or what I'm having for dinner. I really don't. |
"I really want coffee. I also really want to continue to lay around in my underwear. Decisions..."
look, |
I'm just using this to try to convince Mark Zuckerberg to spread them cheeks. |

look, |
I meant like...big brother. I don't care if the guberment knows I laid around in my underwear all morning. I highly doubt that will the nugget of information that gets me black hooded and dragged off into the night when we apparently turn into China or whateverthefuck some of you are babbling about. |
I actually think I fucked up and I didn't take your post in the spirit of what you were saying. Been a bit of a progressive drunkard all day today. Just by history, I probably agree with you mostly on this stuff. So..like...truce...just kidding? |
The white chocolate macadamia nut cliff bars are pretty good but I think the blueberry crisp is killer. |
The white chocolate macadamia nut cliff bars are pretty good but PEANUT BUTTER CRISP IS REAL |

I MAKE MY OWN CLIF BARS, DEAL WITH IT |
I've just gotten onto this nonsense and am poking around trying to figure things out. |
Got an invite yesterday, hooray for another way to half-heartedly interact with people I have to pretend I'm friends with. |

i know that, that's why i said the information is readily available anyways, but at least it takes some effort to obtain, and in the case of what you listed, at least those are tools necessary for a semi-normal life in society. But this desire to offer up your entire life electronically to the Skynet search engine for no real gain, or real purpose is just bizarre to me. |
i just don't care to be used as a marketing pawn (which isn't the same as signing a lease) as much as i don't care what my best friend's dog did today, or what NoMaamRooney said. this site wastes all my online social time budget, and it just ain't the same thing baby. |
I now have to update 3 sites? alright! |

that too. i do post on this site, but i don't consider posting dicks and abortions and pictures of Simpsons episodes can even be considered remotely close to giving Google and Facebook every detail about your life. |
I love that the privacy settings on Google+ are embedded into each step of editing. Having spent way too many hours trying to figure out FB's privacy settings every time they change it, this makes me feel much more in control of my content. |

Nobody's making you give up every detail of your life... don't do any status updates, don't "like" any pages, it can be used as a chat feature much like AIM but online. |
I say this too because I was reluctant to join Facebook for the longest time, but people just don't use AIM anymore, everything's done through either that or text messages. And Facebook has helped me connect or reconnect with a few people and subsequently helped me do some really positive stuff with life, or at the very least stuff I needed to get out of the way. So despite how annoying it can be at times, there is that. |
no i understand, social networking is a great tool, I just find it creepy that people are so quick to put their entire lives for all to see. regardless of whether or not any "privacy" features are used, it's just weird to me. |
"If you don't want to give us access to your most private thoughts and feelings, that's fine, you can just toil in the hinterlands and die young." onion wins, again |
