NEVERMORE ANNOUNCE THE DEPARTURE OF JEFF LOOMIS AND VAN WILLIAMS

Nevermore guitar player Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from the group. The two have released a joint statement:

"In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time."

Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band's first album, 1995's self titled, Nevermore.

NEVERMORE recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with Symphony X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.

I thought they were just gonna break up, didn't expect this at all.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 21,2011 2:11pm
i loved these guys. the newest album wasn't that great, but i always enjoyed seeing them live and listening to the other albums. they're done without loomis.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Apr 21,2011 2:13pm
Yeah, they're over.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Apr 21,2011 2:13pm
They used to be one of my favorite bands.

toggletoggle post by i_am_not_me   at Apr 21,2011 2:13pm
So much for my hopes that they'd give Warrel the boot and hold auditions for his replacement.

toggletoggle post by arkwor at Apr 21,2011 2:14pm
no nevermore without jeff and van. nope.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 21,2011 2:15pm
jeff's solo cd was pretty awesome. i'm sure we'll see more of that at least.

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Apr 21,2011 2:16pm
They might as well break up for good now.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Apr 21,2011 2:22pm
I think I'm in a minority opinoin that This Godless Endeavour was a comparatively weak album. So, IMO, calling it a day now would be an opportune time as they would still have left behind a solid body of five great albums to be celebrated, with no sad decline at the end.

i love This Godless Endeavour.

toggletoggle post by Sacreligion at Apr 21,2011 2:42pm
Well it looks like Nevermore are suffering from a case of...

*Puts on Sunglasses*

...Deconstruction.

YEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 21,2011 2:46pm
win.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 21,2011 2:50pm
jeff should join megadeth... pretty sure he's good enough now.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 21,2011 2:53pm
megadeth isn't good enough for him now

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Apr 21,2011 2:54pm

wow really? This Godless Endeavour is one of the strongest albums they did in my eyes. The Obsidian Conspiracy is horrible, no matter how many times i listen to it, it just gets worse.

this sucks, but i'd rather see the band go before they release worse material. Warrel Dane's age has been showing since Enemies of Reality, despite his stellar performance on Godless. but live they have not been all that impressive, the Godless tour was good, but otherwise i've never been blown away by them live. they left one hell of a legacy though, hopefully this spells the end and they bow out gracefully, rather than Warrel Dane try to salvage the band with new members.

Somehow I doubt Dane will bow out gracefully. He will try to get Mike Portnoy and some wonderboy shredder and keep beating a dead horse.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Apr 21,2011 3:25pm
even the Loomis solo album was meh, it was nothing but wankery. he writes amazing riffs with tasteful solos, but that album was just solos. the Dane solo album was pretty good, it had its weak moments but overall it was enjoyable.

I did. Now like I told you a week ago, PLEASE GOD give us a Sanctuary reunion tour!

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 21,2011 4:32pm
warrel should end it and just focus on his solo career and the sanctuary reunion. he could always play a few nevermore songs with his solo band. lots of people play their old band's stuff solo.

It looks like Warrel Dane is beating a dead horse...

I feel like his solo album tries to be too much like Nevermore. It's like a b-sides Nevermore album. It wasn't different at all.

I thought his solo albm was similar but less technical and more vocal-driven

From my understanding he was good enough then, the issue was being like 16 or some shit.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Apr 22,2011 11:23am
Last time I saw em in Worcester, they were an abomination. Warrel is one squirrely fuck.

toggletoggle post by Archaeon at Apr 22,2011 3:58pm
Their next album is going to be so lol worthy.

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Apr 22,2011 4:23pm
The band should retort by hiring Dr. Loomis on guitar and Katt Williams on drums.

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Apr 22,2011 4:57pm
Damn. This is me relieved that I got to see'em before.

toggletoggle post by Mark_R at Apr 22,2011 5:03pm
I love NM but they were never good any of the times I saw them. i always wished they could sound better live to measure up to the albums.

toggletoggle post by MikeOv at Apr 22,2011 8:51pm
Shitty news but the last couple of records didn't do much for me. Regardless, they were still an amazing band who had a great run.

toggletoggle post by i_am_not_me   at Apr 23,2011 1:56am
From everything I've ever seen they were always on point live, aside from Warrel, who was on pint....#128936712984712.
