Fuck that noise. I can't stand when people take my attention from the greatest show on Earth with their queer dancing. GWAR is the only band I always make sure to stand somewhere that I can see everything and nobody will bother me with their falling bodies.

I like to spend my time at the bar for every opening act and then make my way to the front/center for their set.. punch the shit out of anybody trying to get in my way/crowd surfing

I like spending my time in my front room drinking during the opening bands, since I'm sure Lupo's rapes its patrons with its beer prices.

That's because it's in Providence doing shit like that is an artistic statement.. punch a hole in the wall and bloody up DYA about it and get black listed in Allston, LIKE A BOSS

I'm one of those gays who stay away from 'the scene' as much as possible. Not because I'm against it or anything. I just don't like annoyingly loud clubs packed with 2000 Lady GaGa worshipping twinks. And, most of them have a cover charge which is super tacky. I just don't like clubs; gay or straight.

But, occasionally I will give bars a try. So, on NYE, me and my friend were walking from AS220 (amazing place btw. Really bohemian) to the newly opened laid-back hip bar The Salon behind the City Hall. And, we saw people at The Stable having a blast! And, we wanted to give it a try. I heard only great things about it.

I have to say, this really is a great place. Mostly a 30+ crowd who obviously came here to have a drink or two and cheer up for NYE with classy (and friendly, not annoyingly loud) drag queens. Bar tenders were SUPER QUICK serving drinks to a quite packed crowd. I was impressed.

So, we stayed there for like 30 mins, then wanted to hit other places too. But, after checking out 2-3 bars in the area, no place had the vibe we wanted. So, we went back to The Stable! And, the friendly chubby guy at the entrance said "Honey, y'all are back ? Come on in!"

If I have to go to a gay bar in the area again, I think I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I didn't even know this was happening until I saw this thread.

Last time GWAR played Lupo's I went alone and wanted to get my day drunk on.. Went into Wheels (now The Stable) not knowing it was a gay bar.. Sat and read a book over a few Gansetts and left with no idea it was a gay bar.

Fast forward four hours later.. The show is over and I'm looking for a place to wash up and dry off before I get on the late night bus to Boston..

I walk back to Wheels and it hits me.. This place is a gay bar, no other place full of dudes would have Malcolm in the Middle on three tvs at 1230am.

I run to the bathroom and lock the door.. for the next five to ten minutes I yell at dudes knocking on the door asking me if they can come in to go the fuck away.

I leave, somewhat clean and about 5lbs lighter.. I had also taken a massive fast food/beer dump and didn't flush.
