because it's still xmas, figured I'd share some bands that I hope may be new to some of you. if not, that's cool too. anyway, here we go...
Root - Czech dark/black/lovecraftian/thrash/borderline 1st wave blackmetal metal
I'm sure some of you know this band, and some may hate the vocals. I'd say this band is one of metals most unique in the way they progressed. Their 1996 album "Kargaras" is indeed another classic by them. It's when they leaned more melodic. Excellent guitar melodies here.
Russian band that is extremely atmospheric. The first album is by far their most metal sounding album, recommended. The second album is less metal, but still heavy on the atmosphere. Haven't heard the new album.. but from myspace it barely sounds metal at all.
Interesting band out of Indonesia that loves to experiment. Pretty unique band. Their first album is shitty christian Emperor Nightside Eclipse worship, but they progressed interestingly as time progressed. haven't heard all their albums, but this one is unique listen:
1000 Thoughts of Violence (2003) - http://www.mediafire.com/?tzz1kg41dem
Anyway, this thread was probably a waste of time and looks like a horrible blog.. but merry xmas hohohoho

I'd like to profess my adoration and affection towards,
FORTERESSE (ambient black metal - Quebec)
Been haunted by every fucking riff they've written. METAL NOIR QUEBECOIS is a fucking battle cry for all us french fuckers entrenched in the new england faction du les resistance. gimme some fucking snow already.
