toggletoggle post by armageddonday   at May 8,2004 2:40pm
I have no clue if anyone is serious about info but just in case:
doors 7pm, show at 8pm, $20, all ages
Club Therapy is on Dyke St.
Coming from North: Atwells exit in Providence at the 2nd light take a right on Broadway, straight for about 1 mile, go under an overpass, at the first set of light, you'll see a car wash on your left on the other side of the street, take the street between the car wash and the plasma center. Then the first left, that's Dyke St, then the club is straight at the end of the street.
Coming from South: Take the Broadway exit in Providence, at the first light take a left on Broadway, then follow as above.
You'll drive by Armageddon, stop by \m/
Note: if you're coming from West or East you're fucked

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at May 8,2004 3:08pm

Glen Benton wins the award for "Most Accurate Super Shredder Look Alike... ever"

toggletoggle post by handinjury PT.2 at May 9,2004 3:29am
IT was a good show dispite the horrible PA and the "30 minute wait for vital". Horns to pete for booking a good show.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 9,2004 3:35am
30 minute wait?
it was more like 45 minutes.
pictures are uploading.

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at May 9,2004 3:48am
Now that was a fucking metal show.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at May 9,2004 4:09am edited May 9,2004 4:11am
horrible PA?.. actually the sound in that place was some of the best I've heard in a while.

nefarious: black metal stuff, not my thing really.

in dire need: mosh and mosh. kinda wierd seeing these guys go from 3 guitarists to one... joey's got some kick as vocals.

the nightmare continues: didn't seem very tight, sorta out of tune... low vocals were okay, but the highs were horrible.

cattle decapitation: impressed the hell out of me... wasn't expecting them to sound as good as they did. guitarist had about $8,000 worth of gear on stage. vocals were rediculous.

black dahlia murder: are getting tighter and tighter everytime i see em, facken cory rocks the motherfuckin drums even though it's not his set... looked like he had to reach a ways to hit some of the cymbols. sick show, kids seemed to get into it more than the previous bands.

vital remains: was awesome seeing them soundcheck, but then we had to wait until benton suited up the shredder suit and finally came out about 40 minutes after bdm. I was standing right next to benton's mic and thought I was going to get eaten. al from goratory was screaming SUZUKI over and over hoping they'd come out and play but it didn't work. The intro was played half way in and then stopped, so that was restarted. Then as benton said LET THE KILLING BEGIN 'LET THE' was sorta cut off because the mic wasn't turned up. these guys were just amazing. I have no idea why they don't play more shows around here. Dave is sick, Tim is sick!!!

here's me ruining one of rev's shots:

awesome club, I want to play there!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 9,2004 4:32am edited May 9,2004 4:35am
nefarious: long time since I've seen these guys in a while. the vocals sounded less new mayham and more oldschool dani filth. at one point, the bass blew in and sounded like butt.

in dire need: only one guitar player, but they still rocked. the bass was way toooooo loooouuudddd. it was grossly distorted. At some point, I think they need to get a new guitar player and record that more stuff.

the nightmare continues: a loooooong time since the last time I saw these guys. way too long actually. they played an awesome set. I'm amazed cause it was ~30 minutes long.

cattle decapitation: such a great set. these guys are awesome live. I heard so many people saying the same thing after their set. I think they won a lot of fans tonight. The singer's vocals are crazy. they sound like a pig getting slaughtered. they were a little mad cause they had to drive to ohio after the show. All that gear they had was insane. I have no idea what it was all for... but it was just amazing.

black dahlia murder: damn, it's so awesome seeing these guys. at one point, brian's amp cut out. switch of a fuse and it was back. after the show, he got an RTTP hoodie so I hope that makes up for it. they've basically been touring non-stop since the CD came out. I hope they don't get burner out.

vital remains: I spent 45 minutes sitting on the floor waiting for them to come out. it took so freaking long... they finally came out after forever and it was pretty freaking amazing. Benton was in a rediculous outfit. I mean, where do they get stuff like that? it's not like there are hellraiser merch sales.. are there? you know how all the songs on the CDs are long? well, live, they are just as long, 7-9 minute long head-bang-a-thons. at some point, I lost my hoodie which I then saw from up above and randown and grabbed it up from between josh's (ascendancy) legs.

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at May 9,2004 10:42am
you know i actually won free tickets to go see this show at the knitting factory in NY on friday, but wasn't notified until the day of. good thing i didn't go though, a friend of mine who tried to go told me traffic was a fucking nightmare into NY and Vital Remains went on at 8:30 because the club had booked another show at 11, so i would have missed the whole show anyway

toggletoggle post by theundergroundscene   at May 9,2004 10:57am
Ha, I see their guitarist at like every show I go to and I had no idea who he was...

I would have gone if I knew BDM was playing, but oh well, I gotta take it easy on the money situation, I think I am flying out to California to see a show out there...

toggletoggle post by goratory  at May 9,2004 12:44pm
ya, so I think I got way too drunk. And I think I knocked Vital's bass over while being a beligerent prick. Anyways, sick ass show. I hate to say it but it really was worth twenty bucks. Sucks for anyone that missed it, it was the best time I've had at a show in a long time. I also lost my god damn voice, I hope Susuki is happy.

toggletoggle post by diamond_dave  at May 9,2004 1:20pm
rusted angel - yeah we definitely were sloppy. the drummer and i couldn't hear anything, we apologise for that. we most definitely weren't out of tune though. other than that, all i can say is no one has ever complained about brendan's vocals before; usually that's what gets complimented the most. check out our mp3's if you want, and see if you still feel the same way. http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/8557

rev - awesome pictures. it was good to see you, thanks for coming out. thank you for the review also. are you still coming on the 21st?

anyone else that watched us/bought merch/talked to us after, we thank you.

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at May 9,2004 3:03pm
Hah. I got to mix all the bands. Gyahah.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 9,2004 3:08pm
actually, you mixed from tnc on...
cattle decap was fucking pissed at the sound guy...
he was too busy using his cellphone rather than working on the mix.

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at May 9,2004 3:22pm
I don't know what was going on there so I'm staying out of it.
I started during IDN.

toggletoggle post by degenerate bastard at May 9,2004 4:24pm
thank\'s to all the people that came out & paid 20 $ it was the best show ive seen in a long time . and thank\'s to all the band\'s for playing for beer and pizza u guy\'s rule !!!

toggletoggle post by mr thirsty at May 9,2004 9:26pm
After chatting with a few people that evening, I figured out why it was $20. Therepy is an after hours techno bar. They don't serve alcohol. The promoter had to get a 1 day liquor license. I'm sure that cost a bit. Plus, the place was rented for the evening, and I am unsure how much that cost. A grand maybe?

Glen made referennce to the venue having been changed when he was onstage. I only knew of it being advertised at Therepy, so I don't know where it had been prior to that. You add all this up, and I guess the ticket price got raised. And I'm not even sure who procured the alcohol or how that's paid for initially.

the show was fucking great - that's for sure.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 9,2004 10:08pm
it was originally at club liquid.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at May 9,2004 10:08pm

So how was Tim's drumming? Off the hook like usual? How was his sound?

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at May 10,2004 5:41pm
he was tight and sounded alot like the cd. I wanted to talk to him about Pontiac.

toggletoggle post by morkul  at May 10,2004 7:02pm
It looks like in the pictures he took the triggers off for Vital Remains? Was he triggered?

Rev, we are recording very soon, and we have picked up a new guitar player, and is in the process of learning the songs....check out the new cd on encryptic records late summer.

only his kicks were triggered.

toggletoggle post by morkul  at May 11,2004 1:48pm
Nice. That is all you need triggered anyway.

toggletoggle post by TheGreatSpaldino   at May 11,2004 1:51pm
yeah... he was exactly like the cd

toggletoggle post by morkul  at May 11,2004 2:03pm

What cd? Im pretty sure dave played drums on the album.

toggletoggle post by Dread_104  at May 11,2004 4:41pm
i think they meant he played just like the cd sounded, not just like "he played" on the cd

toggletoggle post by morkul  at May 11,2004 5:08pm
Exactly!

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at May 11,2004 5:35pm
Glen Benton sounded just like the cd when he said "Let the Killing Begin" he should remember to turn on that artsy fartsy wireless next time. Dave Suzuki is pound for pound one of the best dude's I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in Metal. He's always at the shows, takes time to talk to people, never full of himself. Plus he'll always grab a flyer from a kid passing them out, fold it up in his pocket, and tell the dude to have a nice night. I need to post my pics of him with Al and everyone.
