this list is really dumb. I mean, really, really, really dumb. This is a "Most Popular Drummer" pole, that's all. I mean, TRAVIS BARKER is number 6? number 6? Of the last 25 years? I have friends who like the whole pop-punk thing, and one of them is even a drummer, he tried to show me one time how "good" TB is, we watched some videos, and in the end he agreed that TB really isn't very good, he's just adequate for the type of music he plays. Danney Carey isn't even ON this list? WTF? That actually surprises me cause he's popular, AND a better drummer than 95% of this list.
FUCK ME, i didn't even notice this one:
19. Stephen Morris (JOY DIVISION, NEW ORDER)
Are you fucking SHITTING ME?! I <3 Joy Division, but come the-fuck on, their drumming is nothing special, nevermind good enough to be on a greatest drummers of the last 25 years list.
I should never look at this list again, or else i'm going to have an aneurysm, or punch someone, or shit myself, or all three at the same time. AHHHHHGHGHGHHGHGHGHHGHGHHHGHGHGHGHHG
these lists are usually created by music writers who work for mainstream music magazines or publications (rolling stone, spin, etc) so they feel their opinion is valid because they gotz the credentials nilla. the 100 best guitar players ever was a fucking joke too. it's almost as bad as opinions expressed on rttp
always avoid these lists.
i agree that Jordison should be on that list due to his abilities and contributions playing with many different bands... albeit within the top 50-100 instead . But 1st? thats just raviolis.

actually, pretty much anything good will become overrated because tons of people will say it's the best, so i guess that would make peart overrated (definitely balding), but regardless, he's an incredible drummer.
lol obviously Neil isn't overrated, he revolutionized a style of drumming. but he's not worthy of being all 25 in a top 25. his best days were over 25 years ago too.
I just love how most rush fans want to suck every semen out of him that he has left. it's good you don't solely listen to rush or dream theater. me likey pushing those fans' buttons

i actually think his drumming has gotten even better with age. he's not complacent and is always working on incorporating new things.
also, fuck dream theater. they haven't put out anything decent since scenes from a memory. james labrie is a bad geddy lee
that was the newest one, right?
I just lost the desire to further my rush experience; I'm generally stuck listening to everything up until signals. I guess one wouldn't say I'm a real rush fan. geddy's vocals give me a headache after 2 songs, much like DT too.

I realize that the poll was from some UK magazine, but I also think it's hilarious that this list was posted on a website run by RoadRunner Records. Coinkydink?
If this suggestion were a carton of milk, it went bad at least fifteen years ago, and stinks at least as much. I know you're being sarcastic, but Lars since then is just the saddest parody of himself I've ever seen a drummer be.

i love vapor trails and snakes & arrows. after signals, they went too synth heavy and didn't really make anything awesome until counterparts. power windows and presto are the worst, but there are good songs on some of the albums between signals and counterparts.
the last rush cd i liked was "test for echo", i don't like anything afterwards.
I'm a big fan of the title track of that CD, I remember when it came out they played it all the time but I never could get sick of it, really good tune.
“Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe.”
I don't know why anyone hasn't said it, but think Mike Portnoy is the most overrated drummer ever. He's such a one trick pony. He's just deceptive about it because he can be one trick pony over 20 different drums and 30 different cymbals. He'd fall flat on his dick sitting at a 4 piece kit trying to play Candiria or Dillinger... Speaking of which, Chris Pennie and Gil Sharone should be on this list. Chris Pennie created a new sound for modern drumming and Gil Sharone is just absolutely badass.

also an awesome song. To tell the truth, i love the whole record. I like SO much in fact, that i got a drum video for it where NP plays all the songs with the recordings and then goes through them and breaks down some of the cooler beats and fills. They even do it in slow-mo, and with a pic inside a pic with his bass drum action going on in the corner. It's a great video, unfortunately it's a double VHS and i don't have a VCR. DAMNIT

jimbo let me borrow that and i transferred it to dvd at work. but i haven't watched most of it...
test for echo is fantastic. vapor trails would be much better if geddy seriously toned down his vocals. why they choose to layer his vocals so much is beyond me. what a bland boring record. counterparts had a couple amazing songs mixed with total shit.
i love vapor trails. the songs are so catchy and great, especially one little victory, ghost rider, earthshine, and secret touch.
counterparts has a few subpar tunes, but animate, stick it out, and leave that thing alone are excellent. plus you have the best song about fags ever, nobody's hero!
i was thinking of nobody's hero when i typed "total shit"...but animate and leave that thing alone are 2 of their best songs. my favorite album is A Farewell to Kings (Xanadu and Cygnus....wow) and even that one has terrible songs on it (Cinderella Man). their albums are so inconsistent.
still though...rush leaves a sour taste in my ear mouth today. i can't really listen to 'em now, i wore them out years ago. i'd rather listen to demilich.

Phil Rudd:
"What do is not a 'suppression of skills". A lot of drummers are afraid to do what I do."
TRUE
NONE of the previously mentioned jazz-fusion super-busy techno math metal players could play an AC/DC song start to finish without masturbating all over it.

If I had to pick the ten all time best drummers, my list would include (in no particular order) Gene Hoglan, John Bonham, Neil Peart, the Morbid Angel drummer, Dave Lombardo, Johnny Kelly, the bald guy who was in Dimmu, Terry Bozzio, Mike Portnoy, and earlier but NOT later Ulrich (he SUCKS now, as previously stated - but I can't forget songs like Damage Inc/Dyers Eve/Disposable Heroes/etc.)
All for different reasons, but they each contributed something original and notable as a drummer that made their band's songs special, and added to the substance of what drumming was for future bands.
Alex Pelletier (Despised Icon)
George Kollias (Nile)
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
Jani Stefanovic (Divinefire, Crimson Moonlight)
and a ton of others that I can't think of for the moment.
