thing is outrageous. haven't seen one for a few years but they just set one up literally next door to me. this thing was fucking awesome when i was a kid, let's see if it still does magic.

perhaps nothing tops the gravitron, however. if anyone has been on this, they know what i'm talking about. some kid puked in one and it went over half of the people in the ride. can't wait to step foot in this magnificent UFO again.

The zipper and flying bobs were my favorite carni rides growing up. I puked coming off the gravitron, not on. I, and everyone else, was very lucky that day.

... flying bobs? was the the music express wannabe? or are they the same thing?

one dude at the brockton fair played death metal on the music express. that was nice.. too bad everyone that went to the brockton fair was murdered or raped... they shut it down

The gravitron was cool for like 1 ride. You're like "wow I'm sticking to the wall". Then it's just like, "wow I have a headache".

I always loved this:

micheal jackson had his own Zipper ride. what an asshole. i like the zipper so much that i contemplated getting a tattoo of one. one time my brother and i flipped our cage 39 times while the ride was stopped with us at the bottom, the ride attendant had to wait for us to stop flipping it untill he could let us out. he wasnt happy, but i was so fuck it.

better. The "carts" hung freely off of the ground. The guy who played music here always played metal too. Albeit, wasn't DM, but listening to metallica, testament and anthrax while on a ride was definite FTW.

I have yet to see anything that beats this ride...Read the description of it.

I've been on tons of rides, and this is till the most terrifying.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 1:33pm
best thing about carnivals are how scary the haunted rides are.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Jul 1,2010 1:34pm
Gravitron was the bomb diggie yo

My hometown has an annual carnival that had the zipper.
One year, one of the carnies didn't lock the cage properly and started it up. The girl inside said cage was thrown out of it at the tippy top, bounced off of the cage below hers, then toppled on top of the unattentive ride attendant.
Rumor has it she broke her collar bone, and arm, while he broke both of his legs. I think Doomkid knows who she is.
The zipper was banned for a few years after that, but I'm sure it's back by now.

Beware!

^^
that's why the zipper is awesome. that and you find all sorts of money/items below after it's done

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at Jul 1,2010 2:00pm
I could see that happening with a young Aaron standing there, thoroughly amused

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 2:13pm
It's too bad it wasn't Clay Buchholz that fell out of the zipper.

toggletoggle post by hauptpflucker   at Jul 1,2010 2:16pm
It seems that every carnival/fair I've been to there's a rumor about a zipper cart flying off or someone being thrown from it...

same here. I've heard so many horror stories about it. surprised this thing still exists.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 2:22pm
Actually, the best thing I've heard is when that guy with MS fell out of the Superman ride at 6 flags. I heard he fell at a very high part of it and got split in half when he landed on the fence. Everyoe supposedly witnessed this and they shut it down for sometime.
Back when it was riverside, one of the rafts on the water ride flipped over and a bunch of people died

toggletoggle post by MillenialKingdom  at Jul 1,2010 2:57pm edited Jul 1,2010 2:57pm
That is NOT ok.

EDIT: Referring to the Insanity ride.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 2:59pm
What's wrong with it?

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Jul 1,2010 3:19pm
hahaha holy shit i remember this ride at the Auburn Mall carnival. i still to this day am a giant vagina and can't handle rides like these. they fuck my whole world up. i can remember all of those horror stories about carts flying off and landing in traffic haha.

The myth. The LEGEND. THE RIDE.
It returns in 2010.
The Zipper.

toggletoggle post by dertoxia   at Jul 1,2010 4:09pm
carnival rides are only good when they're held together with duct tape and look like they could fall apart at any minute.

toggletoggle post by narkybark   at Jul 1,2010 4:12pm
because... they do!

toggletoggle post by narkybark   at Jul 1,2010 4:13pm
Seriously, I wouldn't trust my life to having a bunch of teenagers and carnies put together a complex piece of equipment that will hurl my body around at fast speeds. Equipment that's meant to be temporary and mobile.

toggletoggle post by narkybark   at Jul 1,2010 4:15pm
I've also been up to that insanity ride but I was too chicken to go on it. I can only imagine how much poo and piss falls on the ground/crowd below.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 4:22pm
Sounds like a few people here need to grow a pair this summer and venture on these harmless rides.

toggletoggle post by narkybark   at Jul 1,2010 4:24pm
tell that to the guy with MS

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 4:29pm
That all could be hearsay. What I do know is a few years ago some girls feet were severed on the superman ride. Also, someones arm was severed on it about 5 years ago.
The Zipper? All myths and legends. Perfectly safe contraption.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 1,2010 4:30pm
Now I want to go play SimPark even though that game was lame.

That happened at the Six Flags out in Kentucky... completely different ride.

look it up nilla.

edit: yea, you're right. I thought I had remember reading about it happening in NE on the superman as well.

Also, the guy had cerebral palsy, not MS.

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jul 3,2010 11:57am
I have the worst motion sickness ever. I don't even touch Carnival rides.

toggletoggle post by Death_Metal_Jim at Jul 3,2010 12:15pm
fuk all those rides. the TEA CUPS rule! Seriosly, u grab that wheel in the center and spin it fast enough and u can go back in fukin time. and it feels like trippin balls for 2 minutes. its the SALVIA of carnival rides.

toggletoggle post by Death_Metal_Jim at Jul 3,2010 12:15pm
damn, that pic came out huge.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jul 2,2011 8:20pm
Bump. About to go on one

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Jul 3,2011 12:41am
I'm too tall to ride the zipper. I tried to go on it years ago and I had to basically turn my legs to the side so the bar could go over my thighs. They had trouble closing it until I moved and I think everybody watching just thought I was too fat.
