I'm addicted to the 'newest' Om album and I've been a fan of Grails for some time now.

Any similar meditative/peaceful/tranquil bands that you'd suggest?..

I saw Grails with Mono down in Orlando. They're fuckin' badass live. Mono isn't really in the same genre, but their guitarist does some solo shit that's pretty ambient.

Not that they really sound like either, but Om has definitely taken subtle influences (inspiration?) from The Doors and Current 93.

Still sounds like the rhythm section for Sleep. Wish Chris Haikus was still in the band.

I'm a huge fan of Grails, but can't get into Om due to the "Why can't this be Sleep?" factor.

The Grails Acid Rain dvd has some fantastic visuals.

As for other suggestions, I sorta suck at that.

I really dig Om, but mainly "Variations on a Theme" and "Conference of the Birds". It's a logical progression from Sleep and it kills everything High on Fire has done since "The Art of Self Defense".

I strongly suggest this man gets into Krautrock, actually.
