the mainstage lineup actually isnt terrible. would go upstairs for earth crisis only.

I just saw black pyramid as I was posting this. I was shocked.

coa is one of the best live bands ever and forfeit is really good.

monsters was pretty good. they would get a fine for excessive use of the bass drop pedal if i were the police.

If I could go 3:30-5:30 2nd stage and leave w/o paying full price, it'd so be worth it.

Looks like I'll there just in time for Black Pyramid. Cro Mags are the only second-stage band I might be into, though I have no idea how they are live.

i like the war's music, straight edge from aussieland. i bet everyone was having and edgegasm during their set. that and im surprised that jeremy saffer (photography and non-gentile man about town) had to ask about what band this was. guess his edgedar is down.

they are watching starwars downstairs on on of the mastodon screens.

ok, donnybrook got here and played so early. it is kind of weird. i think a lot of donnybrook fans were not here yet.

so black pyramid is the biggest amount of win so far. if in one year, masstodon doesnt make these guys tour with them, it's only cause they are afraid of being upstaged. these guys sounded so good.

coa (up) was late and only played like 10 minutes. sucks, but they were still good. i only caught a song and 1/2

im also trying something new, using a CF for up and a CF for down. let's see how that works.

Heading over in a few.. gonna take the ramming van, park it somewhere and sleep in it after the show.

so mongoloid had a lot of peope singing along to the songs that werent new. i also failed on the 2 cf's right off the bat during their set.

after i ran down to catch howl. they sounded so good. i caught most of their set, but the bonus is if stoners come up to brendan.

i loved seeing death before dishonor. it seems like i never get to see those guys anymore. i miss seeing them every other weekend. that's what happeneds when they become tour machines so good for them.

mychildrenmybride did a set down stairs. i didnt expect that.

i think architect uk didnt show. this is the 3rd or 4th time i went to see them and they didnt play/show up.

thus far upstairs is way more packed than all of downstaris.

doomriders needless to say was the best sounding band of the night. the crowd didnt seem to reall care which is sad.. but man, them, black pyramid, and mastodon should do a smaller club tour. that tour would rule.

earth crisis was ok. i sang along to straight edge though it was a lie. i was lying through song.

i wish i was there to see the cro-mags right now. i am dissapoint.

the crowd downstairs has been pretty lame so far. there were probably 75ish on the floor when they played and maybe that many off the floor. upstairs has been packed.

cromags were ok. personally, i like seeing harley's war covering cromags more.

valient thorr is on now. the singer puts on one of the wackiest stage shows.

Valient Thorr was one of the bands I would've enjoyed checking out/seeing.

baroness sounded so damn good... they also showed the ablum cover behind them depending on what album the song they are playing was off of. brilliant.

My thoughts on bands I caught:

After The Burial - super tight live, great sound. loved it. new song was sick.

Doomriders - amazing as always, one of the best live bands period. crowd wasn't into it that much, not really a doomriders crowd i guess.

Valient Thor - thought they sucked. trying way too hard to be the cool retro rock band.

Cro-Mags - caught the very end of their set, sounded solid.

Baroness - fucking awesome. duh.

BTBAM - don't really know these guys that well *gasp* thought they were ok, i'd have to hear them on cd.

Mastodon - disappointed. and very much so. Brent was so fucked up he couldn't sing or play. They cut "Crusher Destroyer" before finishing the song and during Capillarian Crest at the end Brent just left halfway through the song leaving the other 3 to finish. Not cool. They definitely had a song or two to follow but they just cut the show then. Said hi to Bill afterwards, you could tell he was pissed. A shame, such a good band but Brent needs to pull his shit together big time. :/
