the pictures are being uploaded now.

man... i'm so getting use to no smoke at places... my eyes are all burning and I'm coughing from all the snoke at the new wave, gack!

transfix: sounded good. the lead singer had a great little growl. a bunch of times it looked like he was going to bust into rape-core, but then he'd stand up and do toilet flushing vocals. I doubt they've played more than 1 or 2 shows cause they were so stiff up on stage.

warblade: exactly the opposite of stiff, they rocked around the stage and looked like they were having the times of their lives. their cd is great and live they were so melodic. then on the last song, the drummer sang the norsk-balad vocals. it sounded so good..

divinity destroyed: post-borknagar 4-th wave black metal. it sure sounded a lot like borknagar. At first I was standing in the back of the stage and thought 'what is this crap!', but then when I came around to the front of the stage and I could hear it. It was very interesting and balady. If I found one fault, it's that, besides some solo riffs, the two guitar players were playing the same thing.

beyond the flesh: it's been a long time since 2002-ish when I was searching for fleshless tracks online and I downloaded some beyond the flesh tracks. These guys are one of the best bands in metal today. they came out with so much drum and guitar gear. they kept just adding things to the drumer set, it was amazing... I didn't know what most of that stuff was... the 2 guitarists had so many pedals and all, it was crazy. they started out with escape and ended with bitter defeat, the two tracks that I know well.

the accursed: always rocking like rock stars. they played a song or two from the upcoming cd and mentioned it coming out on screaming ferret this summer. they did some of the new-bedford guitar stacking. they are now great at making every show seem like they are having the time of their lives. they played both a helloween and carcass cover.

man i wish i went to this show. damn me and being 200 miles away!!!!! i gotta go to more local metal shows. good news is though i'm gonna see morbid angel and suffocation on SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!

and since i'm constantly around friends that smoke, it just doesn't bother me anymore

Thanks for coming rev, was good to see you again, I hear ya about the smoke lung, I'm all fucked up too. What an awesome show! That's the best show I've pulled off, it appears the trick is to only book outstanding bands, who'd have thought?

My rundown for those who didn't make it [it's the thought that counts Kalopsia, by the way Kalopsia is sweet I reviewed their demo or whatever I got handed to me last year in NJ]

Transfix- I love these dudes, they're like the New Bedford version of The Forsaken with a train wreck constantly emitting from Josh's throat. Josh was sleeping 10 minutes before they were due to come on, so thanks for dragging your ass out of bed and kicking my ass.

Warblade- These guys were even better than I expected them to be! Not that I expected them to suck, but everything sounded clear and tight. The last remaining members just stumbled out of my house to head back to Rochester, leaving only a faint trail of cigarette smell behind them. [they were THRILLED that they could smoke in the bar!]

Divinity Destroyed-Love this band. Mark, the singer has some of the best stage presence around and now that they've got a better keyboard player, they're unstoppable. So glad to have them, it was a unique sound to break up the show a little and I think they were a perfect fit.

Beyond The Flesh-Sometimes it scares me what a perfect band they are

The Accursed-The New Wave is their stomping ground so the severe rock star antics come flying out when they take stage there. Sound was kinda crappy for them, for some reason it's nearly impossible to bring the guitars up to the loudness of the low end. No one can figure out why but my guess is they're just too punishing to be "in the backround". hahah. Also if you pay attention, you can see the cymbal number increasing between BTF and The Accursed's drum kits, I think they try to out cymbal each other. hah.

So anyway thanks to everyone that came out, Ian, TJ, Sly Tom and his pretty lady, Jeremy, the gaggle of Helme family members, Beyond the Embrace, and of course The Rev [way to not come with him Carina...you're in trouble now!! ;)] Good time, good show, good night.

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Apr 17,2004 6:19pm
thanks snowwhite. at what show did u get a copy? was it the 3 song demo or the full-length? u work for a magazine or something?

toggletoggle post by snowwhitesuicide   at Apr 17,2004 8:38pm
I got it at the NJ Metal Meltdown 2003. It's the 3 song sampler that came in the little plastic job. I had just started on my own zine at the time, you guys were one of the first reviews I did for the first issue. If you want to check it out go to www.rupturedzine.cjb.net and click REVIEWS then ISSUE ONE you can click the achor at the top of the page and it will bring you right down to the review. The site is still in the works so it's not much to look at but it does the trick. Let me know if you want a print copy and once my lazy ass prints more I'll ship one down.

2 people wish they came to a Life of Sin show!?! Up is down! Left is right!

To the reverend:
We wanted to thank you for the awsome pictures and the honest review. The show was amazing and thank you to Pam who put the whole thing on. We were wondering if we could use some of the pics for our web site and how we would get them from you. Please let us know. Thanks again:
Transfix

Think these guys will be back soon by any chance?
On another note, the guy playing bass for them now is the lead singer of an intense black metalish band from NJ , by the name of Abysmal Gates. Everyone should check them out!! I'd kill to see them play here

toggletoggle post by Aegathis  at Apr 22,2004 11:11am
Do these guys really only play at the New wave when they come here?
