What do y'all listen to whilst working out? It's either Southern style rap (Young Jeezy, Lil John, etc.) or really generic deathcore (I Declare War, Oceano, etc.) for me. I don't know what it is about horrible music (maybe I figure the faster I get through it, the less I have to listen to it), but this is what is always in my headphones while I'm at the gym. And until the band Deadlift becomes a reality, this is probably what I'll keep listening to.

I don't do much working out anymore (DUUUUUUUUH), but when I do I have a huge iPod playlist that I listen to of all hardcore/grind/crust/powerviolence/thrash with some other stuff mixed in like Pantera (FOOTBALL RIFFS), Dillinger, Botch, Coalesce, etc.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Feb 16,2010 7:10pm
Essential for lifting:
Stout - Sleep Bitch / Demo
Cease 2 Exist - Demo
Angel Crew - Another Day Living in Hatred
Sepultura - Arise
Wu Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers
West Side Connection - Terrorist Threats
Rocky IV Soundtrack
Rocky II Soundtrack

Essential for Running
Cock Sparrer - Shock Troops
Skrewdriver - Boots & Braces
Boxcutter - The Ill Testament
Dio - Holy Diver (because Rainbow in the Dark makes me feel like I'm in an 80's sports movie montage)
In Cold Blood - Hell On Earth
Prince Buster (when I started listening to reggae I added like an extra 2 miles to my runs)

There are 2 and only 2 songs that I'll start a long run to: Accept "Balls To The Wall", and People Under the Stairs "Asshole"

When I'm doing long runs I usually listen to something fast for the first half, and something heavy for the home stretch.

The absolute fail safe emergency backup plan for anything is always All Out War "For Those Who Were Crucified" though.

Typically though the Swedish Oi! has the most neanderthal sound of all Oi! .... They sound like they are taking a dump when they play... and when a band sounds like they are going to let go of a horrific bowel movement when they carry on about "Commie Scum" it really gets me goin...

I usually listen to really heavy stuff, most of it isn't death metal. I have a tendency to put on stuff like The Acacia Strain, Whitechapel, Hatebreed, Terror, etc. Generally tough guy hardcore, some generic deathcore, the likes. I can't really get into the workout mood when I listen to death metal.

I don't listen to much great stuff IF i work out.. It tends to distract me. I have to listen to something really generic and kind of simple like swedish or early 90's florida death metal. Fleshcrawl is good or maybe some Benediction. Something I can tune out and focus that isnt too slow or too fast. If I get into the music too much I loose track of working out and get lazy. Never any thrash or black metal it makes me want o drink instead of work out.
