I'm going to use your list as a listening guide for the next month.

off the top of my head I can think these:

Katharsis - VVorldVVithoutEnd
Watain - Sworn to the Dark

Does warkult black metal count? (Blasphemy/Beherit style Black metal)

if so add:
Manticore - Bowels of the Holy Anoint Us In Evil
Nuclear Desecration - Desecrated Temple Of Impurity

People really like that vucub cane band? If they ever have a show good luck wading through hipsters to get to the "mysterious being, recording in a dilapidated barn"

Some of my favorites
Furdidurke - Demo II
Darkthrone - Dark Thrones and Black Flags
Nachmystium - Instinct//Decay
Cirrhus - Demo II
Volahn
Atomizer - the newest one, the title escapes me
Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters
Iskra - Bureval

Just to name a few...

Isengard "Winterskugge" came out in 1994...

Beherit-If you don't have this you are a poser
Watain- Sworn to the Dark
Helrunar-Pretty good pagan bm from Germany
Aborym-"Generator" (This album has a lot of dumb riffs but the cool sinister passages make up for it)
Varathron- Stygian Forces of Scorn
GBK- Judeobeast Assasination
Absurd- Totenlieder
Mayhem-Ordo and Chao
Absu-Absu
Aborym-With No Human Intervention
Shining III
Craft-Fuck The Universe
Craft-Total Soul Rape
Wodensthrone-Loss
Antaeus- Blood Libels (Plenty of filler on this one but the mind fucking evil shit makes up for it)
Gorgoroth-Ad Majoram Sathanas Gloriam (Cry about Gahl all you want, Sign of an Open Eye is mesmerising)
Hateful Abandon
Dark Throne- Hate Them
Witch Tomb/Martyrvore split... If you don't have it, poser, prost and yup
Blut Aus Nord- The Work That Transforms God (Criminally under rated, probably because they are French)
Deathspell Omega- Si Monumentum blah blah blah
Enslaved- ISA

That's all I can think of right now

Ever heard the Polish band Minas Morgul?
Polish blackmetal is usually good, but it's hard as fuck to find some releases.

same here, i hold them in high regard but IMO with Oath Bound they perfected their composition and threw every conventional metal rhythmic/melody fallback into the fire and completely came into their own sound.

once again we have complete opposite opinions about the same band haha...their newest album only has a few good songs on it, and their older stuff is alright but never grabbed me. the songs that atilla did vocals for are good. the drums on armada are probably the best composed display of drum speed in the world, but it's only part of why it's one of my favorites.

also,
Absu - Tara and the s/t
(and again, not all because of the drums...)

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Jan 5,2010 2:58pm
I really liked the opening tracks on armada but the album seemed to lose my interest as it went on. I suppose it's one of those albums you have to listen to in chunks.

i find absolutely nothing redeeming about this album. i tried to like it but it just aggravates me. the drum sound makes me want to stab my ears out. then again, most Mayhem has done nothing for me save De Mysteriis and before.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Jan 5,2010 3:28pm
if it counts, the Mayhem "Life Eternal" thing that Attila put out is fucking superduper. superior in sound to DMDS

i really want to hear that.

Inquisition - Invoking The Majestic Throne Of Satan and all Deathspell Omega releases, especially Si Monumentum and Kenose (I'm a total herb for this band)

I loved "Ordo Ad Chao". It sounded like Blasphemer was listening to way too much French stuff, but it's got an awesome atmosphere and Attilas vox are fantastic. Great riffage as well.

Lugubrum-"Heilege Dwazen" and Lifelover-"Erotik" immediately come to mind as far as recent black metal oriented stuff that I highly dig.

Just like Watain, overrated and boring. Though, I really like the songs at first, then they just bore the shit out of me as the record goes on. Have yet to hear the latest one.

i was loving the new Funeral Mist when it came out but honestly haven't listened to it in a while. i really like what he does with atmospherics... not typical for the genre. and the perverse religious themes go beyond the genre standard

toggletoggle post by ArilliusBM  at Jan 5,2010 11:05pm
there's plenty of different styles of BM so I'm not sure which one you're alluding to.. anyway, here's some more that I can remember... my apologies if they're mentioned above:

Alghazanth - Subliminal Antenora (meh, maybe not.. some songs are killer)
Asmegin - Hin Vonderde Sod & So
Asmodee - Symptomes De Ruine (crazy drunken french black metal frenzy)
Astrofaes - Heritage
Black Candle - Nightfire (came out in 99 I believe, not sure why I always liked it)
Blodsrit - Ocularis Infernum
Blut aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God
Camulos - Spiel Des Blutes
Carpathian Forest - Defending the Throne of Evil
Celestia - Apparitia-Sumptuous Spectre (are they still coming around here??)
Clandestine Blaze - Deliverers of Faith
Corpus Christii - The Torment Continues
Countess - Heilig Vuur
Dark Fortress - Tales From Eternal Dusk
Darkspace - ALL RELEASES
Darkthrone - Too Old Too Cold - FUCKING GRAVEYARD SLUT
Deathspell Omega - Si Momentum Requires, Circumspice
Dissection - Maha Kali single (this version of Maha Kali blows the album's away IMO)
Drautran - Unter dem Banner der Nordwinde demo
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Embraced - Within
Enid - Seelenspiegel (not exactly black metal, more on the avantgarde side)
Enslaved - Mardraum - Beyond The Within (not black metal, as they clearly point out all the time)
Eternal Majesty - From War to Darkness
Forefather - Ours is the Kingdom
Forgotten Tomb - Love's Burial Ground
Foscor - Entrance to the Shadows' Village
Frozen Shadows - Hantises
Funeris Nocturnum - From the Aspect of Darkly Illuminated
Graveland - Memory And Destiny
Grom - Pagan War Machine demo
Holmgang - Runens Advarsel (similar production to Ulver's Nattens)
Krohm - A World Through Dead Eyes
Krieg - Sono Lo Scherno
Lunar Aurora - Elixir of Sorrow, Zyklus, and Andacht
Lunar Aurora & Paysage D'Hiver - (Split)
Macabre Omen - The Ancient Returns
Magog - Hymns to the Ancient
Menhir - Hildebrandslied
Misteltein - Divine. Desecrate. Complete (although it sounds a little too much like Dimmu's SBD)
Mutant - The Aeonic Majesty
Mystic Circle - Open the Gates of Hell
Nazgul - When the Wolves Return to the Forest ... the spanish one
Negura Bunget - 'n Crugu Bradului and Om
Nightbringer - Temple of Not (SPLIT) - Rex ex Ordine Throni
Nocternity - A Fallen Unicorn (EP - atmospheric as fuck)
Norden - Glory in Flames
Oathean - Ten Days In Lachrymation
Odal - Sturmes Brut
Ondskapt - Dödens Evangelium
Pantheon - Vargrstrike
Rakoth - Jabberworks (avantgarde)
Rivendell - The Ancient Glory
Root - Madness Of The Graves (close enough..)
Sear Bliss - Forsaken Symphony, Glory and Perdition, The Arcane Odyssey
Shining - III
Siebenbürgen - Delictum
Sirius - Aeons of Magick
Sorhin - Apokalypsens Ängel
Taake - Over Bjorgvins Graater Himmerik
Trollech - Synove lesu
Urgehal - Through Thick Fog Till Death
Velvet Cacoon - Genevieve
Valar - Magic and Wyrmfire (for summoning fans, but not as good)
Woodtemple - The Call From The Pagan Woods
Wyrd - Songs Of The Northern Gale demo
Xasthur - To Violate The Oblivious

....this thread made me realize that most of the shit I listen to is in the 90s. I'm not hugely familiar with that many newer BM bands; there's plenty of them. Germany has a GREAT scene right now, as well as France.

Don't mean to shit on your list, Ancient Master, but the Weakling album came out in 95 and the Wind of the Black Mountains in 96, I believe. Good albums, though. Judeobeast Assassination is my top BM album for this decade.

Weakling Dead as Dreams Full-length, 2000
material recorded in 1998 but released after the band broke up in 2000

wind of the black mountains yes you are right, black sun shall rise came out in 00's though, which I guess is what I should have put, however I do not enjoy that album as much.

toggletoggle post by aril NLI (sXe) at Jan 2,2011 9:25pm
ancient, I was half joking about bm this decade. there's been plent of good releases.
I'd still argue that 90s bm was better, but this past decade had been good. I certainly don't like the direction most black metal is going in, but then again, I don't listen to blackmetal as much anymore. everything has been done and most bm is emotionless and meaningless now. plus hipsters just ruin everything for me :-(

toggletoggle post by mike29 at Jan 2,2011 9:31pm
I stand corrected. For some reason I thought Dead As Dreams came out earlier. I'll throw in the new Profanatica as well. Not exactly groundbreaking, but evil and dark as fuck.
