It's too bad that we added 9mil of dead money to the roster, but whatevs, we got the capitol the back it.....and about the move, i would ASSUME that we don't need a third catcher (he's not even a good catcher, just a decent hitter). I'll miss Mike Lowell--he was one of my favorite Sox players--but I can totally understand why they did this. Either he or Papi had to go, and Papi was all but untradeable. Also, with the way Ortiz was swinging the bat at the end of last year, it looks like he's got a better chance of returning to form than Mikey.

I'm fine w/them getting Beltre--so long as his deal is nowhere CLOSE to what he got in Seattle. He's considered by most to be the best defensive 3B in all of baseball, and even though his best offensive year was CLEARLY about steroids, his run differential would be better than Lowell's.

I'd still much rather have Adrian Gonzalez at 1B and Youk at 3B though.

I agree ^^^^ if they can negotiate the Beltre deal so that it's not insane, they'll have the loot for a Bay/Halliday/Gonzalez if they want..... and GOD I hope they do one something big, if they don't it's gonna be the "rebuilding year" that my boys on "the sports hub" are saying it's gonna be..... booo

Take that player to be named later and trade him and Clay Bucholz then hop in a time machine and figure out that the player to be named later is actually a hall of famer from the year 2143 and using that time machine go back to 2004 and trade the player to be named later to Cleveland for Cliff Lee and C.C.
