So, about one hour ago I was into the idea of going. I just re-read this thread and saw 22 bucks + 30 minute Vreid set. I'm once again not so sure about attending.
i'm not too impressed with Vreid, the guitar work is pretty cool but the vocals are awful. it sounds like the guy from Chimaira trying to put some black in his voice.
Honestly I'm going for the entire show! I actually enjoy Eluveitie and Alestorm and must I'm looking forward to seeing them (again for the case of Eluveitie)!

Good show, I'm surprised this is downstairs though!
I love the tyr CDs a little less after seeing them live. I thought they were a bit more boring than I expcted since I loved ragnarok. Land was m'eh and should have just been an acoustic album or something. Every song on it is so slow. Ragnarock is so much better and more varied.

Land has a couple good ones (including Hail to the Hammer again, it's like their Don't Fear the Reaper) but you're right about that. For some reason when they played the Palladium they thought it would be a good idea to sing a couple folk intros for 10 minutes before they really played. But Land came with a Wacken DVD, it really kicks ass, it reassured me that they were actually good live. I like Eric the Red the best out of their albums.

Tyr isn't my cup o tea. I liked the Irish song on Eric the red though
Tyr is different, they actually sing Faroese folk songs which are wholly preserved Viking songs, rip a lot of lyrics from primary sources, with all the strange rhythms and melodies and in old tounges. Somehow they translate it to heavy metal and they're excellent musicians on top of that. I'll force you to check it out sometime.
it's up to my friend. He might have found someone to replace me. Not sure yet. There's still a 14% chance of me going to this just to be at the bar to check out that hot bartender that's usually there.
of course bobbie, i love kivimistan druidi. great band. they got shafted cause the equipment is dang busted. they got 15 minutes and the stage was more or less on fire while they played. both figuratively and litterally. the basscab was smoking/buring until it stopped working. kind of stinks that they got screwed when they were the "reason" i came.
belphegor were much better than i thought they would be giving my current tired and hungry position. the crowd thinned out towards the end of their set.
reverend. enslaved is amazing. vreid sucked. comparing the two is just wrong.
aril. vreid sucked.
kivimistan druidi - band got the shaft with equipment problems. 3 songs. This band was awesome on recording. terrible live. sounded more like a local band than a band that should have been on their first u.s. tour. girl cannot sing. seriously reminded me of all the comments about the deftones in that deftones thread.
vreid - the girl i went with was psyched to see them. she was soooooo dissapointed after. I thought they sucked too. maybe 10% of the set was interesting black metal. 40% poop black metal. 50% rock with bad bm vox over it..... windir was over rated anyways.
alestorm - they were good at their thing and i guess the pirate theme is kinda fun. the keytar player is pretty good. wish he could sing. also the guitar players need to be better to keep up with keyboard guy. if they had the singer of inches of blood and one of the guitar players from between the buried in me this band would rule.
belphegor - sound was good for the first 3 bands minus the technical difficulties. this band got shafted. just sounded sooooooo fucking bad. think i took a nap.
eluveitie - was dissapointed by the backing track they played to and also the lack of the bagpipe player. sounded good for the 4 songs i stayed for.
all in all i wish i stayed home for band practice.
