I know about Aztech and I may bring my shit there, but basically I have 1 or 2 speakers in my cab that are not functioning (I think blown voice coils) but they are speakers that are no longer made as far as I know (M/B Black Shadows) and I really don't want to put different speakers in...

anywhere that can repair speakers?

Look into Becker Guitars in Stoughton; I haven't gone to them for anything in a while so I don't know if they're even still in business.

I think I remember going to New England Speaker Repair (http://newenglandspk.com/ ) years ago to get some stuff re-coned. If it's the place I'm thinking of, they were nice and not too expensive.

hmmm

I may check them out

http://www.nollguitars.com/amp_guy.php

not sure if i can make that a link, in text mode.

this is the only guy ive ever gone to for amp repairs/work. he worked on a head of mine though, not a cab. but hes really knowledgeable and very reasonable about his rates/prices. not sure if your anywhere near RI though.

Bob from Noll. gets anything done in about 5 hours. He's the best.

Would love to rep B sharp on Broadway in Providence, but they're backed up about a month on stuff so you'd have to pay a rush charge.

I know of botrh Noll and B Sharp...I used to live in Providence (I think Noll is in Warwick?)...but yeah, I'd rather stay closer to Boston

Noll moved to Cranston. Used to be over in the Mills in Warwick, though.

mr. music in allston fixes amps. booley got his head fixed there

toggletoggle post by Snowden at Sep 4,2009 11:41am
If I were you I wouldn't assume that amp technicians would also recone speakers without checking first.

I have stan from Cropduster fix all my amps. i think he's just down the hall from you guys.

i didn't read this article at all until now. it's cheaper to just replace the speakers in most cases.

two speakers will run you a couple hundred dollars. repairing a blown speaker will cost you a couple of hundred dollars. the only thing speaker technicians don't cost an arm and a leg for are speaker rewinds.

Yeah, I know Stan...

A lot of people have told me to just replace them but those speakers are no longer made :(

I'll look into NE Speaker and see what they say...

Andrew what speakers were they? you can probably find a VERY close replacement. I went ape shit looking for the perfect speakers for my tone a few months ago, so I can give you hand in letting you know. Most speakers are just replicas of discontinued speakers from another brand.

toggletoggle post by MadOakDevin  at Sep 4,2009 5:56pm
ahh the black shadows. i should read sometimes. I'll see what I can find for replacements for you... or just steal eric's cab. haha

toggletoggle post by MadOakDevin  at Sep 4,2009 6:07pm
So i read that Celestion made the Black Shadows for Mesa. From the sounds of it, it's pretty close to the G12-100's. It's a ten watt difference. You can probably also hit up celestion. they might be able to custom make you that same speaker.

Erics cab doesnt have black shadows...

I'm finally bringing this cab to NE Speakers today...

toggletoggle post by AndrewBastard at Nov 13,2009 3:58pm
scratch that

I have to drop the cab off between 10am and 1:30pm mon through friday...those are the ONLY times and I'm not about to take a day off work so someone can fix my cab.
