I've had tickets for this since the day I found out Pagan's Mind was coming. I don't give a rat's ass about Statovarius.

I'm all about seeing Stratovarius but it sucks Timo Tolkki is no longer in the band. Anyone remember when some spanish dude tried stabbing and murdering him, and afterwards was talking about quitting music?

T.T. took all the bands money and split to form a new band when Stratovarius' label caved. What a dick. Sick guitarist, though.

He's ugly as shit too, but yeah I agree.

I'm going for realz. Stratovarius was one of the early metal bands I got into. Also there's been a distinct lack of power metal around here which makes me sad.

Already have a ticket. Will be there.

Anyone heard of the opener before? I checked out their myspace, and it sounded o.k. until they started singing. Really don't seem to fit this bill.

Why oh why wasn't Ravage booked on this bill? Or moreso, why not just let PM and Strat play longer, since they don't make it out here often.

I will be seeing this show in Washington on Oct 4.

1) In Harms Way = Fucking awful. AWFUL. Some pretty meh guitar work, shitty vox, and muddy mix (which I doubt was their fault)

2) Why do soundmen at every club around here insist on cranking the volume up as loud as possibe, clipping out speakers and leaving the audience with nothing to hear but farty bass, distorted mids, and kickdrums? Seriously, the Palladium is like this too. How about turn it down a couple notches and then we might actually hear the guitars and singer?

3) Pagans mind were great! I get the feeling they had issues hearing themselves, and the singer seemed a little unimpressed with some of the Boston fans. At the end he made a comment about "BOSTON... YOU GUYS ARE A GREAT AUDIENCE!!!" then real quiet into the mic ... "for the most part". I'd agree though, it was an embarrasingly small turnout for their first time here, and the crowd did hang back quite a bit.

3) I left before Stratavarius could play. I admit, I went primarily to see PM. While I'm a fan of Strat, I don't think it was going to be enjoyable with the overly loud and shitty mix there this evening.

4) Wren has a lot of fucking hair. A LOT. Don't stand in front of me with that shit, chia-man.

Great show! I think this was the first show at the Middle East to actually start EARLY. Missed In Harms Way, and I don't know enough Pagan's Mind to say if it was a good setlist, but they were pretty good.

As for Stratovarius, they definitely dominated! Can't believe you left before them! They looked like they were having a blast too.

I could be wrong actually, they probably cut that one for this boston show... but I think the rest of the set is pretty accurate. And definitely agreed, not many opportunities to see Strato in the states.

Even though it wasn't the classic line up, their set was a lot of fun. True that the opportunities are few and far between to catch them in the states, and it's always a good time when they come around. Kiss of Judas, Twilight Symphony, Black Diamond... so good.

They should have done 4,000 Rainy Nights and Winter
