no doubt in my mind they will pull it off tonight. bruins vs. pens . we should be able to handle that team, too.

celtics tonight too.

i have my tim thomas jersey on at work and i'll be sporting it tonight onstage at metal thursdee.

i think the bruins will win tonight. it'll be a tough game, not the cakewalk people on weei seem to think.

i'm worried about pittsburgh. i would much rather have faced washington, with one superstar and a tired rookie goalie, instead of the burghers, with two superstars and a goalie who can get hot.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 11:22am
i'd also rather face pittsburgh without gonchar, who made his presence felt in his return to the ice last night.

if the b's make the same mistakes in front of their own net that they've made against carolina, crosby and malkin will make them pay for it.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 14,2009 11:30am
no question the pens are a tough team. crybaby crosby is a great player, so is Malkin. malkin is can pass the puck GREAT too, so he is a constant threat on the ice.

I honestly think the Bs will win by a at least 2 goals tonight.

If it's Celtics vs Cavs then I am sorry. I don't think we can withstand the storm and win 4 games off of them. With KG and Powe, yes... but without? The only way the Celtics can beat em is if Rondo is on every game and we hold wannabe Jordan to 20 pts a game.

back on topic - the best and toughest matchup for the Bs would definitely be the Red Wings. GO DUCKS!

toggletoggle post by xmikex at May 14,2009 1:45pm
On the most realistic note possible... the NBA will never let the Celtics beat the Cavs. They want a Cleveland / LA..... excuse me Lebron / Kobe final, going to at least 6 games and slanted one way or another by shady calls.

Case in point: the NBA finals commercials have basically just been fapping material for Lebron/Kobe fans. I think I've seen one featuring Yao Ming, but other then that they've made it abundantly clear who the stars of this post season are supposed to be. My personal favorite is the :15 spot that's just "Kobe! *crowd cheers*" end of commercial.

So you're telling me that basketball is wrestling?

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 1:53pm
the nba is going to try its hardest to get a ring on lebron's finger this year. that said, i don't think lebby and the cavs are going to need any help dispatching the celtics. assuming the celts take out orlando, the cavs will beat the celts in 5 or 6 games.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 14,2009 1:54pm
The NBA has the most corrupt officiating in any major sport. You're right - I swear some series are predetermined. Let's see how the calls are tonight against the Magic.
I can't stand LeBron and Kobe. They've got skill, but what happened to selfless basketball? Sure LeBron averages a lot of assists in the season, but he has the damn ball almost every posession. He's so fucking full of himself.
Remember that big deal when he already a Hummer when he was still in HighSchool? Shit was bought and laid out for him already - dude is viewed as the next coming of christ

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 1:54pm
back to hockey, i'm on board with the ducks. i really don't want to see the bruins play detroit in the finals if they get there. in fact, i don't want to see pittsburgh play detroit again if they make the finals. detroit is too good. i want the ducks to rub 'em out. b's/niggerpenises stanley cup final is what i'm hoping for bcause i think chicago is the easiest team to beat of the remaining contenders.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 1:56pm
i don't know if lebby's ballhogging has as much to do with him being full of himself as it does with the rest of the team not really being that great. if bronzo didn't have the ball as much as he does, the cavs wouldn't win as much.

top 5 sports stars that I can't stand:
1.)LBJ
2.)A-Roid
3.)Kobe
4.)Ocho Cinco
5.)Komisarek (only because of the series)

Sports players that need to be brought back:

1.) John Rocker
2.) Rich Garces
3.) Dee Brown
4.) Dino Radja
5.) Bledsoe (fuck you brady)

I just like CELTICS style play. Which the Cavs don't play at all. They pass the ball a lot. We don't have anyone as skillful as LBJ, but we're more of a team playing team. You can only go so far with one player carrying you on their shoulders.
Off topic again but also, anyone else think LBJ was almost "too" jacked coming out of highschool? Do they dare test him for PEDs?

The reason the Cavs don't play like the Cs do is because of the team around LeBron...if the Cavs had another superstar, then they'd alter their offense to pass the ball more

the NBA doesn't care about PEDs

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 14,2009 2:19pm
Exactly. I Still think there's a slight chance the celts could pull off a victory against the Cavs, but only if we crucify the 2nd coming and hold him to 20 points a game. It's all going to be on Pierce's shoulders. Remember the epic battle last year? Sorry, but I hate the Cavs, hate their stlye of play, and want to punch Delonte West in his fucking head.

NBA might want to start caring about PEDS because it's starting to get out of control.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at May 14,2009 2:23pm
how can anyone forget Cs/Cavs game 7 last year? epic battle indeed

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 14,2009 2:26pm
back on hockey though:

the Bs are too good and slick to be manhandled by the canes tonight. We're just a better team. Full confidence.
I like how Julien said he wants to 'return' us the favor by having us win a game 7. (he coached against the Bs in the game 7 we lost)

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at May 14,2009 2:31pm
momentum is the reason I think the Bs will win

I have a good friend who's a diehard Pens fan and he told me last night "Yeah i just hate playing against any claude julien team and that momentum with home ice is intimidating."

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 2:32pm
claude julien looks like an egg

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at May 14,2009 2:33pm
..if my facts are correct. i could be wrong. i'm not good with remembering hockey facts/stats. did julien coach against the Bs in a game 7?? we all remember what happened not too long ago...
it was just last week that I realized how many pts Gretzky actually piled up over the years and how no one will touch him for 500 years.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at May 14,2009 3:04pm
The part of Malkin's brain that tells him he's a world class player shuts down when the playoffs start. Either that or the wingers he's paired with realize that if they weren't playing with Malkin they'd be career AHLers and shit the bed.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 3:05pm
gretzky could possibly lose his goals record to ovechkin or tavares (if he's as good as advertised) but his points record will stand til the end of time.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at May 14,2009 3:06pm
Oh and Mike Green is fucking horrible when he isn't scoring, Caps should just move him up to forward and end this whole defenceman charade.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 3:07pm
i heard that green was playing hurt, but yeah, he's a bit of a liability on defense. definitely the epitome of offensive defenseman. he's not great in his own zone. plus he has a gay haircut.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at May 14,2009 3:10pm
....which is why if Green wins the Norris over Chara, it would be complete bullshit

I don't see Ovechkin lasting long enough to pass Gretzky on goals; throwing knee to knee hits, the goal celebrations, going into the offensive zone as hard and often as he does is a recipe for some good Canadian boys giving him knee and concussion problems down the road.

toggletoggle post by RustyPS  at May 14,2009 3:15pm
well he's more deserving than Green at least

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 3:24pm
i see the point with ovechkin. he plays too hard to last as long as gretzky. gretzky was more careful with himself and had police like dave semenko and marty mcsorley to do the dirty work for him.

who would you say is the most skilled NHL player right now? Ovie/Malkin/Crosby?
I kind of think Crosby is a tad overrated. Ovie has the speed and skill, I think he might take the cake. It's amazing they're all in their early 20s.

I've been a Crosby doubter, but this year even more than last year's playoffs has sold me on him. He can't match Ovechkin in terms of natural ability (although he's definitely one of the best athletes in the league), but he has far more hockey intelligence and improves the play of everyone around him.

I think what stuck with me most from last night's game was Crosby's second goal; Ovechkin had his pocket picked by Crosby, fell to his knees and in the replay you can see he's still on his knees facing away from the play as Crosby flies into the Caps zone.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 5:12pm
i thought ovechkin was slightly better than crosby because of his hitting, but watching crosby has made me appreciate him more than ovechkin because of his two-way play. sure, ovechkin can hit hard and plays with a lot of emotion, but crosby is more disciplined in his own zone and uses his head more. you can't really go wrong with sid, vechy, or malky. they're all great.

Or if you're a retarded Habs fan, Vinny Lecavalier is the single greatest player to ever exist.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at May 14,2009 5:15pm
That post about Lecavalier is the closest the Habs are going to get to the second round of the playoffs for a while.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 14,2009 5:16pm
hahaha, lecavalier is an excellent player, but those fans are ridiculous if they want to pin all their hopes on a trade for vinny and his colossal contract.

As for the other game 7 tonight, I'd love to see our good Canadian boys punch their way through that Euro trash 2nd seed. And I'd love to see Getzlaf respond to Hossa's diving by punching him in the face again.

Between the Walker non-suspension and the whole shitstorm over blocking Balsillie from purchasing the Somalia of the NHL I'd say this past week has been exhibit A of why the NHL needs a total overhaul in the boardroom.

I thought they came out kind of sloppy in OT, but after the first few rushes into their zone they started playing dominant hockey again. It looked like the sentiment was they had the Canes on the ropes, and they left that last line out there to try and finish them off. Obviously it backfired because they looked like shit in that last minute or two.
