Swine Flu Suspected in NH
The first case of Swine Flu, medically known as H1N1, is suspected in New Hampshire. An employee at Concord Hospital is suspected of having contracted H1N1. The employee has been tested and the results are expected within 24 hours. This employee is being treated for flu symptoms and is feeling better, according to Dr. Jose Montero, New Hampshire Public Health Director. Montero commended Concord Hospital for their handling of the situation, as well as the employee for staying home from work. Since the employee stayed home from work when symptoms developed, it is not believed that others were exposed.
During this time with the development of a potential pandemic, according to Center for Disease Control, it is important that people receive as much information as possible. During this period, it is important that we educate ourselves to the fact and fiction of H1N1. While this illness has the potential for greater spread, it is a time to take preventative action and is not a time to panic. |
