so i have a shitty squier vintage modified bass. i want a Marcus Miller Fender J bass. I dont have enough cash for a MM J bass... so i modded my current bass with an active preamp. its 160 bucks altogether and bolts in, no soldering required. the fucking makes my bass scream now. i have so much more tonage to play with now. they fit any j bass and j bass copy too. people drop these things in the expensive ones too... the tone difference is outstanding.

they make preamps for other basses too, check it out if you are a bass player. high recommended.

not to mention it shipped next day and i got it in 2 business days.

When I have a job and money to spend I'm gonna buy an SX jazz bass copy and pop one of those and some new pickups in it. It'll be bitchin'.

thats actually my next bass set up exactly! a grand total of like 299 bucks for a bass that sounds like you paid HUNDREDS more for.

those SX j basses are really nice actually. they dont feel like any other brand new, 129 dollar bass, thats for damn sure.

its not just j basses... they make preamps for pretty much any bass. the non j bass specific ones fit almost any other kind of bass.

I like Warwicks, but theyre a little pricey and I feel like most of that money is just going to the esoteric types of wood they use. I have a Spector Euro LX and it's essentially the same thing as Warwick's Streamer series for half the price.

I want a tobias rumbler with bartolini pick ups if we are going off topic here. That bass is so nice. I can hammer away fast arpeggios on that taperd neck design. It's effortless to play.
