New site? Maybe some day.

is this xasthur's first release?
A label/guy in Pittsfield, MA released EARLY Xasthur stuff, I can't remember his label/name for the life of me. Must be on Metal-Archives. Anyway, he's mailed me some of his newer bands and it's got a wax-seal and everything. Nice guy, good releases. |
fuck Xasthur in general. i've always hated their work. |
nope . its making fun of him.
song titles are
disgruntled sissies in denial
scott conner must die
scott conner must die(black noise mix)
and wrest we forget
it's an acquired taste one could say. the production's generally getting better, but Scott tends to use the same drum sounds/fills for his releases. |
hahaha, oh yea. I remember hearing about that somewhere. I'll listen to this tonight when I get home. |
Nocturnal Poisoning on repeat, at work, all day. Even though hydrahead records has made him the poster boy of low-fi, atmospheric USBM, his earlier days in obscurity birthed some works of genius. NP was probably the best thing I had heard in 2001, and I can't see how anyone couldn't appreciate it. |
Xasthur is incredible. You really have to listen to this in solitude and observe all the whispering words of wisdom. Scott is probably the only fan of our music as you can see he thanked us in his new release, but regardless he is one incredible guy, really knows his stuff. I own all his works and probably would recommend all of it. Theres a little something in each release. |
I would say he combines all of my favorite atmospheres and presents it like no other. One of my favorite bands to date, ever since I heard his first song on the Nortt / Xasthur split... |
i used to be in xasthur but they just put out the same album over and over again |

The Only Pasta Sauce That Pours is Yours. |
my name is Malefic NOT Scott, have you no respect? It was obviously a mistake thanksing GSS in my latest masterpiece. I think I must go back to thanking no one and just saying Fuck You all. |
HAHA very funny. I talked via email with Scott last night and he is not that kind of guy to say something like this. You probably think he is just another misanthrope, but he is not. He is brilliant and also knows his place in life or should I say really knows his stuff when it comes to telling the truth about life. |

oh please... what makes him so brilliant? what's he going to do? plan to get his cd's sold at Hot Topic so he can transform the minds of the youth one by one into suicidal corpsepaint wearing monks? It's only music and people either buy it or download it and appreciate it for what it is. If it is supposed to be some kind of propaganda to do more than just make sound in people's ears, then it can be considered an extremely weak form because nobody is going to do anything out of the ordinary because of Xasthur or any other band out there. You kind of people seem to have this grandiose sense of yourselves and what you are trying to accomplish with your music. It's just music, underground music that's never going to do anything special. What, you think Scott Connor is some genius that's going to change the minds of the masses someday? keep dreaming fanboy. |

Your taste must suck then |

I met a girl who went to high school with "Malefic."
"He was a real loser," she said. "We all thought he'd live in his grandmother's basement forever."
Fuck Xasthur indeed. Actually, though, the guy who did the "parody" has some other one-man projects that are "for real" and quite good. Alpha Drone (s/t) = ftw. |

Umm, I think he still does. Either way, he still makes some decent music even if everything sounds (for the most part) the same and in droves. |
Speaking of grandmothers' basements the Acid Enema side of that split was much better than Xasthur's side. |
you guys should have talked to ashdautas at the show last week. they are all friends with him |

That's why I like his demo material and Nocturnal Poisoning. I also enjoy The Funeral of Being and Telepathic With The Deceased, but nothing else he's done sounds like Nocturnal Poisoning. It's almost otherwordly. |
