I went to it a couple of times back in high school. There were about four straight years where Scissorfight, SBC, Tree, and Clutch played together. It was very worth it. I wouldn't be caught dead near it now. I think that the only place worse would be at a ICP concert.

I was at that one. And i went to all the ones with sam black church in that same timeframe. SBC was one of my favs. I saw the let in life record release, and the whatever doesn't kill us record release. Matter of fact, i think SBC played that locobazooka that we were talking about in thread a couple months ago, the time with faith no more..... now that i think about it, they definately did, and they definately played disco inferno. It was fucking crazy, i loved it..



And hemp fest always, always, always sucked. I liked the music for a little while there, but the thing is....all of the WORST kind of potheads come out for it. It's a big, smelly, lazy, stupid, group of morons. And i am a HUGE pothead, i am just being honest. Just like raves bring out the worst kind of drug user. The kind that will do anything to get more, even suck off a dealer in the bathroom while their boyfriend waits outside the bathroom KNOWING whats going on because they want some too.

I know we've had this conversation before sir, but i manage to get a LOT of stuff done on a daily basis, hold a good job (suit+tie) and do it all stoned... so do plently of my friends..
what i am saying is the stereotype your describing i think has more to do with the people than the drug, on a couple different levels. First i think people who are lazy and don't do much gravitate towards getting high because it is entertaining and they don't need to expend much energy, and on the other hand people who aren't lazy normally see being stoned as an excuse to be lazy.

So i guess what i am saying is, i think this stereotype is wrong and mean.

i wish i could smoke greens. i get crazy though. like jump off the roof 10 stories high naked, crazy.

i know, it goes against the stereotype that has been pushed on everyone for our entire lives, but i am serious. I accomplish more than most of my non-stoner friends on a daily basis. And i have plenty of friends who fit in the same category.

I agree. Me too, for many years.

However, in sum total: most people fuck up on the drug, and very few come out unscathed.

Therefore, I have trouble advocating it universally.

There's also the nagging question: what might we have done better if we'd been unstoned?

What opportunities passed by because others don't trust someone who seems to need a drug to get through the day?

I loathe the pot subculture. I love smoking and I love not smoking too. Most people shouldn't use it regularly. If you smoke half an ounce a day and can't get off the couch, then I have a hard time believing that NOT using it will take you far at all.

Weed affects different people in different ways. I work in a supermarket, with 90% teenagers. I've seen tons of kids come in bright, smoke their brains out, become slow as shit, and get fired. I've also seen kids come through, smoke their brains out, and still haul ass the whole time, but most of the kids can't balance their smoking so that it doesn't affect their job.

You're either a lazy fuck or you're not. Pot doesn't make you lazy, if you don't ever get off your stupid ass, it's because you're fucking lazy. Period.

My best friend is a great example. She smokes all day, every day. She is also a personal trainer, aerobics and yoga instructor, runs 2+ miles a day and takes her kid hiking in caves and shit all the time (she lives in Texas). She's always been high-energy, I've know her since I was 6 so her personality and energy level hasn't changed in the 21 years I've known her. She's smart as hell, too, she's like a Frank Zappa loving jogging encyclopedia.

People that are already lazy probably shouldn't smoke pot, but that doesn't mean the rest of us that have no issue taking care of business and living life should be lumped in with those assholes.
