I was having a discussion with someone about the possibility of Obama cutting a huge chunk of our funding for Israel.
He stated he would go through the budget, line by line, page by page, and eliminate things that are costing a lot of money and are not contributing to the benefit of our country.
It seems to me, that it is a possibility that Obama would downsize, or even cut, funding towards Israel and their military. Thoughts?

lol

that would never happen

we can dream

toggletoggle post by sever at Nov 6,2008 9:59am
downsize, perhaps, but he would never cut it out.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 6,2008 10:00am
it would improve our international relations with the rest of the Middle East haha

it would be a huge step. I'd actually probably support the guy in the future if he has the balls to do this.

LOL this will never happen.

Caucasian-Asian mixes often look similar.

It's why you sometimes run into Mexicans who look like Joseph Stalin.

I think it'll happen.

We can only hope. But that's a very slippery slope. I don't think much if anything will be cut.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Nov 6,2008 1:20pm
Never happen. If it does, I'll dance a nude jig in the street on the Torah.

Your dystopian sci-fi hypothesis frightens me.

well, i already look eerily like Vladimir Lenin so i'm ok.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Nov 6,2008 1:45pm
Yeah. Considering he just appointed Rahm Emanuel to be his second-hand man, he obviously intends to destroy the Jews.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 6,2008 1:47pm
This can be pulled off without looking like an anti-zog agenda. It's sucking money and resources out of us. Period.

toggletoggle post by Conservationist  at Nov 6,2008 1:50pm
Eh, look at American military strategy since 1910 or so: theatre dominance through allies. Israel is here to stay until that changes, and per Macon, it's unlikely to change because it's very effective (as compared to the British model of trying to rule its empire from a centralized position).

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 6,2008 1:51pm
Israel could survive with lesser amount of our money.

toggletoggle post by Conservationist  at Nov 6,2008 1:53pm
It could, but would it be an ally?

Israel allies with Russia = massive balance of power shift in the middle east.

Considering Israel's largest population growth comes from Russians, it's a major factor.

Israel needs some larger benefactor to discourage the Arab nations from putting together a giant Army of morons with AK-47s and sending them running at the Israeli border. Israel is very outnumbered.

If they're smart, they'll keep using US weapons, which are generally better than their Russian equivalents.

toggletoggle post by arilliusbm  at Nov 6,2008 1:58pm
Whatever happens out there, WWIII will start on the very sands of the Israeli desert.

Har-Megiddo?

understatement of the year? they got more modern bombs, but fight their wars with WWII tanks (see georgia)

Israel owns america and our congress... so no.

if anything aid will increase.

toggletoggle post by Hep - C at Nov 6,2008 5:29pm
The Jews would take him out before allowing him to even cut back on the shakedown, I mean aid, excuse me. I would never make the claim that our "friends" in the middle east could ever be holding our elected officials by the balls.

toggletoggle post by swamplorddvm  at Nov 6,2008 7:28pm
Cut funding?

I sure hope so.

Probably not though.

toggletoggle post by Dankill at Nov 6,2008 7:43pm
Don't forget though about how much brown nosing he did with the Jewish vote when people questioned on how he'd balance talking more with countries like Iran and Syria while still supporting Israel.
He'll catch a lot of crap for that if he flips and starts cutting money and military support.

toggletoggle post by My_Dying_Bride at Nov 6,2008 8:44pm
hopefully advisors will persuade any further thoughts of fund cuts....

Israel is too important to lose popularity, regional negotiation would be 10 times harder, and all key positioned bases, radars, defense, etc. would be jeopardized.... can't happen.

we wouldnt need those bases and an ally in the middle east if it wasn't for israel instigating their neighbors to attack them and the west. Israel was created in order to obtain future oil rights should the middle east raise prices or nationalize. look at iran, England got awful pissed when iran nationalized it's oil fields.

toggletoggle post by My_Dying_Bride at Nov 6,2008 8:59pm
i know the story... but without that geographical position, we have no stable Middle Eastern allies to setup defense recognition in case of intercontinental attack... aside from the bare politics, oil trade stalemates, etc... we still cannot afford losing such a militaristic stronghold.

This is the core of the issue.

Secondarily, AIPAC is powerful and Jews are 2% of the US vote -- and generally a wealthy 2%.

Here I disagree:

We're trying to keep anyone else from owning those fields.

When they're on the open market, we consider them neutral.

If Russia or China owned them? Potential disaster.

It would be a nice embelishment at the end of the day. Israel is for Jews, and their religion espouses Racial Power. They have a grip on our congress, our media, and most importantly, the way we think: Retirment is the goal! If Obama has the potential to veto future funding to Israel, that would not only help STOP wars (Jews helped get the US into the first two WWars), but could actually encourage LARGER nations to become our ally. These times are rough and violent, cutting just SOME money to israel wouldnt really affect us too much (Aside from the fact that the media would proclaim Obama and the beuracracy antisemite)

toggletoggle post by DJ DEATH at Nov 15,2008 8:50pm
We need to stop helping those bastards. HOW CAN WE DO THIS!?

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Mar 21,2009 10:13pm
Bump for Obama NOT reducing funding for Israel.

The Israeli military will recieve 3 billion dollars of US tax money again this year.

They will then purchase arms from our country through bogus contracts with companies like ceradyne, hailburton, and boeing, which the members of our DOD(who gave them your tax money in the first place) invest in, awarding themselves your tax money. (which is why they further push war in the middle east. conflict=profit)

We will continue to supply Israel with illegal weapons like white phosphorus to murder women and children in Gaza (where they practice their future war on lebanon)

I'm suprized anyone even took the idea of decreasing israeli funding seriously, seeing how nearly everyone in Obama's cabinet is a dual israeli citizen. (dennis ross, rahm emanuel, etc)

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Mar 21,2009 10:19pm
I forgot to mention the part about our taxes paying to build their aparthied walls.

our roads and infrastructure are crumbling. We have no money to fix them. our construction industry is hurting. Our economy is hurting. Our taxes are too high.

But as long as Israel has that 13 billion dollar armed fence to keep out the heathens, America's intrests are secure.

No politician ever does what they say. This applies to Obama, America's half-white pseudo-Messiah.

toggletoggle post by stabbedinthehead at Mar 22,2009 12:42am
No support for Israel=political career suicide. The idea that Israel would have suffered from an Obama administration was and still is completely laughable. AIPAC owned last year's elections, and pretty much most elections. Sans Ron Paul, none of last years candidates were going to cut off support to Israel. Besides, Obama was AIPAC's dream candidate, a dreamy charismatic voice ready to talk us into a new war with a country of their choosing. If I believed he was truly going to cut off aid, he might have gotten my vote. (I didn't vote for McCain by the way.) I don't think we may ever find another candidate (who stands a chance) brave enough to stand up to them.

Man if the ADL isn't already monitoring this site, they sure are now!
