i have 3 credit cards, i've managed them surprisingly well, treated them like borrowed money from a loan shark as everyone should...they've saved my ass many times, i paid for my last semester of school with one and that investment paid off i guess...i plan to have them zeroed in a year or so. a "credit card meltdown" would only affect getting a new card or raising limits..they can't raise interest rates too much because they would get even less of a return.
