it's laurel on bass and vocals, shadow on guitar, and casey on drums. saw them about a month ago and they have some new stuff that's a lot different than their old songs but they haven't lost a step from what i could tell.
Hooray for my birthday! Well, my birthday is actually November 3rd, but anyway... I can either celebrate it at a halloween party or Metal Thursday, and Metal Thursday has more metal.
Last time I saw Suicide Dream was at Club Marque in Worcester like 4 years ago... I'm pretty excited about this.
oh the club marque. sac and sd played like a million shows together there. in fact some of our best were at that place, practically falling off the stage. then when 10 oclock rolled around they turned on the metal detectors and the darkies started to show up.
just recently. i went and saw them in Ashland a few weeks back, they dumped that second bullshit singer they had, the fat one who couldn't sing, brought it back to a 3 piece and wrote some really good new material. they sounded phenomenal.
Rohirrimeed started off a little rocked, mostly missing energy. by the time they hit the "sing along" they were in their stride. if they had been a little later, there would have been some moshing for their last 2 songs, I know it.
it's sam's birthday, but for some reason she isn't drunk and spitting while she talks to me about her boyfriend and his band. someone get her a birthday drink.
suicide dream was good but out of place on this bill. they need to be on a slower doomier show. one of thei songs really reminded me of a late 80's song that I couldn't remember the name of at all. the fact that one of their members used to post pretty intelligent things a few years back. that's why I came.
ROHIRRIM - simultaneously was/wasn't what i expected. really enjoyed these guys, though. Thrashy black/death/epic metal. All instruments were played well, mixing thrashy technical parts with slower melodies and solos. the vocalist stayed within his means but sounded really good. he mixed standard death vocals with some good highs, "brees," and mid-range screams. will definitely see this band again.
RAZORMAZE - Great addition to the night. All instruments were tight and in tune with each other. some miscues on the vocals, but overall a great representation of 80s thrash. I compared them to Black Diamond to a friend during their set but have since realized they were really just a good conglomeration of every 80s/early 90s thrash band.
SUICIDE DREAM - Love these guys. I've seen shows where Shadow's guitar has cut through better, but Casey's drumming really became the forefront for me during this set. Laurel's vocals/bass playing were on key as always, so this led to a good set for them overall. I agree with the Rev that they could have a better response on a doom-ier billl, though.
RAVAGE - Brought it in the same way RAZORMAZE did, but in more of a power/epic metal sense. Didn't see the whole set, but all instrumentation was on point and the vocals were exactly what they needed to be to bring the band together.
All in all, Samantha should feel incredibly lucky that a show consisting of all these bands played on her birthday. Happy birthday to you, Samantha, and congratulations to Chris for another great show.

that was the best i've heard Suicide Dream sound. Shadow has a very bizarre guitar tone, but i thought it came through well. with a little bit of tweaking it would have sounded better, but it still sounded great. Casey is the man, one of the most fun drummers to watch. overall this was a great show, each band sounded awesome.
this show was fucking awesome. unfortunately i didnt get to stay for ravage but rohirrim and sd were great. i think its tougher and tougher to find shows with line ups as solid as this these days.
Holy shit there are a lot of pics of me being a drunken fool.
What a fun show! Rohirrim was awesome, they will definitely be on future MT shows. Razormaze was solid as usual, the new guitarist fucking shreds. I hear what some have said about Suicide Dream fitting better on a different bill but I think they played enough faster material to make it work just fine. I was super excited to see them again after such a long time... I agree Casey is one of the most fun live drummers to watch. Ravage delivered in a big way... love these guys!
Hope to see everyone back out in 2 weeks for Smite The Righteous, Hivesmasher, End-Time Illusion & Abnormality on the 20th.
Holy shit there are a lot of pics of me being a drunken fool.
Ha ha!
If you look hard enough, you will find a far worse picture of me.
Hahaha... I don't know whose hand that is reaching out but I'm not sure if they were preparing to help me up or just gesturing towards me as if to say "hey look at the drunk guy!"
And I believe I have seen the picture of which you speak.
bitch i'm motherfuckin wilson fisk. whateva! i'll do what i want!

I had to drive back to Salem after this show. I got home at 2:30 and had to get up for work at 4:30. Not much sleep at all...but it was totally worth it. My first time at Ralph's. I really like it there, I just wish it wasn't so far away :(
I think that the highlight of the night was the dude with the glasses who worked there, moshing while holding up a case of Poland Springs. Awesome.
