Listen to her song "You're So Gay". I accidently heard it on someones myspace. Was surprised at the content, she's ragging on feminine dudes. It was pretty dumb but far from squeaky clean like most pop females on record. Guess I never got a good look at her, that pic gets an A+.
wow, i thought this threads' title was "hot new porn star" and i almost jumped outta my seat when i saw how fucking hot she is. Then i realized that she is a singer. BOOOOOOOOOO i wanted to see her taking some big dick.
And as much as i HATE to admit it, i heard her song on NPR when they were discussing the content of it, and how much more accepting the mainstream has become. They played a couple clips from it, and it was stuck in my head for hours!
I kissed a girl and i LIKED it..
Somethin somethin with her cherry chapstick
hi perry im ashamed of you saying your a reverend and then wanting to have sex withsome soon shame on you repent my friend before its to late ok time is to short dude ill be praying for you may god have mercy on your soul
Musically, she is whatever. Catchy pop music. I dig shit like that for what it is.
But I really feel that 'I Kissed A Girl' is homophobic in the worst kind of way - because it seems like it isn't. Popular media brainwashing.
i want to understand what your saying. I am only familiar with the chorus of the song, so i don't quite get what your saying, but i am interested. Care to elaborate?
Well I know people are going to accuse me of over-thinking/reading into this, but I believe that you need to be analytical and incisive to see through the brainwashing that the media puts you through. So that is my response to that inevitable criticism.
Basically, if you pay attention to the lyrics/watch the video, the song 'I Kissed a Girl' completely marginalizes female homosexuality, reducing it to a "naughty" thing that drunk sluts do at parties. Something that is "bad," but wild girls do it a little bit just for fun on the side. In my opinion, that is completely derisive to people who are actual lesbians and is an insidious way to influence the popular consciousness to view homosexuality in a certain way, as something that is forbidden.
The very final shot of the video shows Perry waking up, looking alarmed, and breathing a heavy sigh of relief when she sees she is sleeping next to a man.

All in all sir, i couldnt say for sure because i haven't seen the video, but from what you say, sounds like you are spot on... and i will take your word for it and not watch this stupid bitches video. You definitely make sense though.
i think that's reading into it too much. i think she's just some broad that wanted to have a hit single so sang a song that would obviously garner a lot of attention

You should watch the video and form your own opinion. You know, the whole think for yourself type deal.

WOW. way to show me. I still won't watch the video because i don't like her music and don't care about her video. I was curious why rbass said what he said, although it has no bearing on my life what so ever.
So no. I will not watch her video. Was there somthing i said to make you think that i DON'T think for myself? I would love to hear it if there is.

same thing applies to religion, my friend.
you know, the whole think for yourself type deal.
right. Which is why i was conversing about the pdeudo-george carlin ripoff "The message was good, his followers screwed up the message". Please enlighten me on how i don't think for myself.
Anthony (rbass) definitely has a valid point; I don't necessarily think that's looking into it too much, because even if the song isn't supposed to convey that message, it's still very easy for people to hear/believe what they want to hear/believe. Everyone in the spotlight is a scapegoat for something anyway.
Luckily I don't get brainwashed by ideas, messages, etc., in the music. I just get brainwashed by catchy music and I get funky.

This is really interesting.
It could have zero political content, however... she might be just observing a common trait.
Also, it doesn't necessarily imply that ALL homosexuality fits the pattern of SOME girl-on-girl behavior.
I need to work up a cover: I PLUGGED MANASS AND I LIKED IT
Yea, fun to watch. But i am bad at sharing. At least in the "i wanna hook up with 2 girls" sense. Maybe if i weren't in a relationship with one of em.. but let's be serious here, if I wasn't dating one of them... WHY would they let me get involved?
They would let you get involved because you'd be paying them enough.
OH SHIT. I keed.
no, your right. If i wasn't dating one of them, i couldn't (with my limited knowledge of women) see them inviting me in. oh well. I enjoy myself plenty with one woman at a time.

I felt the same way when this song dropped like 6 months ago. I'm pretty much completely surrounded by lesbians out here. Most of the people I hang out with here are lesbians, when we party its with lesbians, when we go out to the bar/club to rage its gay clubs. And to be honest, whenever this song comes on in the local club, the girls flip out and shout the lyrics. I dont understand it. Who knows...

I think the other nasty undercurrent to the song is how nicely it fits with her conservative Christian upbringing's view of homosexuality and whether or not it can be "cured". In "I kissed a girl" homosexuality isn't just something "good girls" don't do or in opposition to "how they should behave", it's also something done on a whim. Perry views sexuality as a choice, with no innate attraction aside from how many cosmos are in her system. That's just one of the things that's bothered me since that song came out. Beyond the content Perry's voice is pretty weak and she gets really contrived in an attempt to sound like a strong vocalist, the beat is nothing special, and if I want to listen to Zooey Deschanel's music I'll listen to She & Him.
