We just received the very unfortunate news that Ferret Music no longer wishes to release the upcoming full-length from Terminally Your Aborted Ghost. Since Ferret and Siege Of Amida are now in a partnership, SOAR decided it was no longer worth it to just release the album in Europe. Ferret was back and forth with distributing the release in the beginning, but decided to stick with it all this time until right now, 2 days before pre-production. We've spent the past 8-9 months writing some of the best material the band has ever collectively written, and it cannot go to waste. Pre-production was going to be done this coming Saturday, followed by the full recording of 14 tracks from July 11-14. That being said, we are hunting for a new label. If any labels are interested in working with us--or if you know any labels that would be interested--please get in touch with us on our MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/tyag

I'm sure a more official "press release" will be posted at some point in the very near future.

Wow, that FUCKING sucks. God forbid they put out a quality DM album with actual cred. Good luck, fellas.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jun 26,2008 3:43pm
i thought that label was affiliated with candlelight. that's gay that they dropped you guys.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 26,2008 3:45pm
Yeah, they WERE affiliated, but Candlelight couldn't provide enough of a spread for distribution I guess.

This is seriously the worst news I've ever received aside from family members/friends dying. We have all sacrificed more than we should have for this fucking release. If we had known this bullshit was going to take place, we wouldn't have put our finances, personal lives and job security in jeopardy to tour in April. I can't begin to describe how I feel about this so I'm going to go out and kick a baby or two.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 26,2008 3:48pm
I should say, to tour in April and spend hours upon hours upon hours of time and effort into writing, becoming better musicians and figuring out what we're going to do with the rest of our lives.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 26,2008 3:50pm
Dont fret, Mark fucking Richards, there are plenty of labels out there.
Is Devon still in TYAG? Spaldino?

toggletoggle post by MarksFuckingRichard at Jun 26,2008 3:51pm
I was banking on this baby coming in. What will this SS# do for me now? Jack Shit that's what.

It's not about just having a label, it's more what we had to do in order to get this release done for them. Fucking sucks. Too many details to go into.

Devon, the singer, is still in the band; it's been his band since day 1 so he can't leave, haha. Spalding hasn't been in it for a while. The current lineup is myself, Devon, MSD and Eliot, the guitarist for Composted/drummer for The Body Farm.

toggletoggle post by MarksFuckingRichard at Jun 26,2008 3:57pm
And me too! I have the card to prove it!

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 26,2008 3:57pm
cool.
Ya man, I hurr yuh. Sucks either way.
Were they paying for all production before this shit went down?

Can you afford to record on your own dime, and shop it?

MarksFuckingRichard said[orig][quote]

I dont get it. why you do that?

toggletoggle post by MarksFuckingRichard at Jun 26,2008 3:59pm
Oh, it sort of just fell into my hands.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 26,2008 4:01pm
We were given quite the cushy record deal. Everything was going to paid for, and we were going to have money left over. I was even going to get paid to do the art on my own CD, on top of many other benefits. There's almost no way to get another record deal as good, so we just have to cut our losses depending who bites.

We definitely can't afford to record it on our own. We'll definitely still do pre-production, but probably engineer it ourselves since Devon and Eliot are both engineers/producers. Luckily we get to use a sweet studio right down the street from our practice space. But, until a label decides to give us money for recording, pre-production is all we can afford to do.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 26,2008 4:02pm
Kok, I'm not sure if you noticed but there is an imposter in the thread, in lieu of me losing my wallet yesterday. See the "I have lost my identity" thread, haha.

toggletoggle post by MarksFuckingRichard at Jun 26,2008 4:03pm
I can put it on my credit card. Ok?

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Jun 26,2008 4:10pm
HAHA! that person rules

toggletoggle post by watchmaker666  at Jun 26,2008 4:23pm
This is exactly why we never practiced, toured, wrote just about everything on the spot in the studio, and never gave a shit beyond having fun and thrashing the fuck out. Not saying that we didn't put any time into it because we did, just not to the point of sacrificing other shit in our lives, we new it was going nowhere when we started. Music business sucks balls kid!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 26,2008 4:24pm
yo mark, I told you like a million times this would happen if you didn't get more people on your myspace friends list. 5,000? you got to be fucking kidding me.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Jun 26,2008 4:27pm
I dunno...I think touring is just an experience that I want to have. Putting time, money, effort into it is just an expression of how much you care about it. Yeah, it has to be fun, but whether it's going somewhere lucrative or not shouldn't dictate effort.

I dunno, obviously people do stuff for different reasons. And I respect doing what watchmaker did more than some band that does everything it does for the sake of "making it" or whatever gay ass pipe dream some people have.

Not that TYAG had that...I was so psyched for you guys when you got that deal. Must suck to lose it...sorry dudes.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 26,2008 4:28pm
that blows dog.

Ya I noticed the imposter after posting.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 26,2008 4:31pm
Brian, why would you pour money/time/love into something if you DIDNT have some 'gay ass pipe dream' ?

Maybe my 'gay ass pipe dream' involves me paying my rent with my guitar playing.
Not hoping to someday be a veep at the fucking Playboy mansion.

Theres a diff.

toggletoggle post by watchmaker666  at Jun 26,2008 4:38pm
I didn't mean to make it sound like a band shouldn't tour, the weekend shit we did was a blast so if you can swing it by all means go around the world and back again, he just made it sound like it put a lot of stress on his life and everyone else in the band. I was just trying to point out that the business side sucks and takes away from the reason most of us do this, the sheer joy of thrashing out with your friends. I have had more fun playing to the guys in Hirudinea at some shitbag club in haverhill then playing to 500+ hipsters with some gay band on relapse.

We should have realized something was wrong with Ferret Music when they told us months ago that they were iffy with distributing us because we didn't have enough myspace friends. I can't say I'm surprised. This definitely sucks though. The shit we've been writing over the last 8 months has been some of the best shit I've helped create in my whole shitty music career.

And I don't care who here likes or dislikes Devon. I spent 21 days in a van with him and the only thing I didn't like about him was the smells that came out of his ass.

Dude, those smells make my panties moist.

I love everyone in tyag.. except maybe the black kid and it sucks to see this happen, but as long as the CD sees the light of day, I don't care what label puts it out.. wether it be metal blade, or jive.

toggletoggle post by goatcatalyst   at Jun 26,2008 5:25pm
sorry to hear guys. way shitty. the fact that myspace friends > talent / ability is SUCH a sign of the times. what happened to a label signing a band because they believed in them? FUCK the music "business".

Your comments on the matter are quite far-fetched. Do you really think I'd be bitching about using vacation time to tour??? It is fucking retarded that you'd think that was the case, especially since I don't get cool things at my job like vacation time. Eh, I'm not going to perpetuate an internet battle though.

toggletoggle post by markfuckingrichards  at Jun 27,2008 8:47am
Yeah, they were very concerned that we didn't have hundreds of thousands of "friends" on MySpace. There are countless bands that have 50,000 friends but no one really knows about them, because it's all from bunk friend adding programs. Then there are huge bands that have just a few thousand friends, because they didn't get friend adding programs. Their few thousand friends are people who actually wanted to add them.

Unfortunately I understand exactly why it is that way. Pretty sad.

toggletoggle post by aaron_michael  at Jun 27,2008 9:41am

that was trustkill, but ferret isnt doing very well either or any of the metalcore labels, they have all been replaced by b9, deathwish, and the like. yay trends! seriously though guys, i wouldnt worry about it too much. yea ferret would have had SWEET distribution but you dont want to be under the wing of some big ass shitty label trying to tell you what to do and how to do it.

toggletoggle post by Jamie SOAR at Aug 13,2008 12:21pm
I'd better set the record straight here on our part.
No buck passing here, but if I didn't want to do the TYAG record I wouldnt have signed the band. The problem was that Ferret were not keen on doing the record due to the fact that they had been on a lengthy hiatus and were concerned about doing expensive retail campaigns when perhaps they felt they would not recoup. TYAG are a US band, and it would have been bad move for us to work a US band if our US distributors don't do it too...also they have never been to Europe and have a pretty low profile over here, they are still relatively unknown. Telling Devon we couldnt do the record made me feel terrible. I believe at some point in the near future, SOAR will be in the position where we can release what we like regardless of profile, but at this point we have to make it work on both sides of the Atlantic. I'm sure this post will result in a flaming but believe me when I say it was not how we wanted it to be. TYAG are an awesome band and Devon was nothing but courteous and professional.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Aug 13,2008 12:23pm
I think that's a reasonable response. Gotta understand their disappointment and then the way this board is going to respond to one of the more successful bands on this board being jilted. I don't think you'll get flamed.

It sucks that this was sort of the first brick in building the house that was the TYAG disbandment. But it seems like you meant to do right by them.

I just hope it had nothing to do with not having enough Myspace friends because if that's the case, you can shove your label up your tight-wad bunghole.

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Aug 13,2008 5:11pm
It was ferret that said that not SOAR

toggletoggle post by Jamie SOAR at Aug 15,2008 6:42pm
Of course we dont base our signings on how many myspace friends they have, don't be ridiculous. Look at half the roster...bands like Nefastus Dies, Plasmarifle, My Cross To Bare, Martriden, etc etc, are about as myspace friendly as my Grandmother.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 15,2008 6:49pm
Well, the whole Myspace thing was something I was told and it really irritated me. Myspace is not the only place for promotion and shouldn't be.

If Ferret actually believes that Myspace gives you cred, then they really need to quit the music business.

toggletoggle post by markfuckingrichards  at Aug 15,2008 9:10pm
SOAR was nothing but amazing to us. Devon (vocals in TYAG) told the rest of us that in a conversation with Carl from Ferret, he was told we did not have enough MySpace friends. SOAR never once said anything like that, and it is understandable that in losing the US market they had to pull out of the deal.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Aug 15,2008 9:58pm
Then my apologies to SOAR if I was rude. I'm just irritated at the whole situation. I've been pulling for this band to get out there and then a ton of bricks get shat on them. It sucks.
