I just got my brother a drum kit for his birthday in hopes of jamming with him...here's the link:

Now me being as unobservant as I am, I failed to notice that it came with no cymbals or throne.
Can anyone tell me where I could get some of this stuff relatively cheap? I'm not looking to give him some $600 cymbals, I just want something for him so we can fucking jam!

value pack of cymbals at Guitar Center. High hat, china, crash and ride is good to begin with.....whoa, just clicked the link. So he doesn't know how to play yet? Awesome beginners kit. Don't forget the key of life(drum key). Get 2-3 of em, drummers always lose those things. |

I would go to americanmusical supply and buy a zildjian ZBT starter kit and throan.
ZBTs sound awsome for the money, and you can get one of those cheap wuhan chinas for like 20 bucks, I had 4 of them on my old kit. they are soft but sound great.
the reason I suggest american musical is they allow stretch pay (no interest or credit card garbage, you just pay a third of what you owe for three months, they deduct it out of your bank account) |

Some better bue just as cheap companies are either Dream, or Agazarian. Both made in Wuhan, similar sound to Wuhan chinas (which, though Blue might not agree, do sound EXACTLY how a china should) yet are more durable and a little bit brighter. |

You know, I've never actually broken one.
I think that because they are so soft, they absorb blows better then something that's rock hard. Just a theory of mine but I see harder chinas break allllll the time.
it's also worth nothing I used the 16 and 18 inch chinas, the ones smaller then 16 sound too bright and trashy and the ones above 18 sound too dark IMO. |

Sorry I would just suggest used cymbals, so you can jam on them and just get good used ones. If you get new ones then you are just to much right now. I feel it all depends on the sound and how you play them rather then what you brand you buy.. Good luck. |
