do people actually do that these days

i do for every show I put on...usually for a month ahead of time if i know
about it soon enough. I also try to get it plugged in the phoenix,plugged
by the local college radio stations,and of course myspace/mass email/webposting. If you're a promoter thats what you should be doing.
The Cancer benefit at the Columbus we just played was a prime example of bad promotion. I have no doubt the people who put it on had the best intentions but the only promo i saw was on a few random webboards...
no posters around town...no flyers...i talked to a shitload of people who
didn't even know it was going on. Bad....and a missed opportunity. The
Columbus has the potential to be an awesome venue for shows like this..
but if the shit doesn't get plugged...people just aren't going to show. Again..
if your putting on a show..or your the promoter of a show..do your footwork...bands are busting their ass to make shit happen. so should you.

I saw the Phobia/MG tour in both Raleigh and Richmond and I must say it was a fantastic time, I'm sure the Providence show was cool too, doubt it was as good as Richmond though. That felt like an Olneyville Lightning Bolt show in some bicycle garage, everyone trying not to fall into the drums and cramming into a small space.

didn't go to the phobia show but the Narwhal arms show was great.
