Swedish death metal masters ANATA have entered the studio to begin recording their new album, tentatively due before the end of the year via Earache Records.

The band's most recent CD, "The Conductor's Departure" (2006), was recorded at Studio Mega with Valle Adzic (THE CROWN, IMPIOUS, LAKE OF TEARS, BESEECH). The CD features "10 brand new tracks continuing the path that have seen the band likened to MESHUGGAH, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, GOJIRA and NECROPHAGIST," according to a press release. "Merging blindingly technical riffing with an ear for melody, ANATA have gained a reputation for blatantly sidestepping the IN FLAMES imitation of their homeland. Instead, the band have found themselves mentioned as the missing link between death metal and the technical 'math-core' hardcore scene.

if there was a boner icon, id have like 5 of them in a row. i expect the breevocation and archaeon dudes to come in panting heavily any second.

You are dead right sir. This is absolutely one of my favorite all time metal bands.

The Conductor's Departure absolutely raised the bar for technical death metal. Evoking so much emotion and power through such inventive, non-cheesy music.. that is at once so technical, so melodic and so amazingly well put together. I remember thinking (back when I was first rocking that album when it came out) that it was a huge inspiration for me to make something above-and-beyond the usual technical, wankery bullshit. Make music that actually matters and has a point to it. Anata are one of the best metal bands currently going in the world.

This is definitely going to be amazing. Conductor's Departure kicked my ass but I could only see it getting better from there. I can't wait.

I have been listening to The Conductor's Departure on repeat for about a week and a half straight. I can't fucking wait for the new album!

They still haven't put this shit out? Wtf??!!
Anata were supposed to be playing a ridiculous show on a cruise ship this January. http://www.70000tons.com/ Play MA damnit! Fuck Florida... this show should happen up here in New England, in the winter, during a blizzard... because all of these are more metal than the friggin Gulf of Mexico. Oh wait, patrons can get out and explore Mayan ruins? Ok, I take it back, this is AMAZING. Looks like I have a month and a half to find myself a sugar daddy to buy me a plane ticket and pay the $2000 it'll cost to book a cabin. Um, yeah.

The album hasn't been released because of the label not the band.
