Does anyone know if you need a license in NH, I heard it was a scam.

I also heard it's really heard to find a job as a bartender, you have to start off at restaurants usually...as a waiter...then get promoted.

I took a course a few years ago

and never bothered after that

i think alot of places when you dont have experience require you to work crappy shifts with minimal tip potential. but i'm probably wrong. i'll ask my dad though.. he spent half his life slingin drinks.

I took a bartending course, got certified, and was never able to get a bartending job. Most places want someone with experience. They don't care if you've taken a bartending course.

Work at a hole in the wall bar part time just to get some experience. Don't bother with courses. Getting TIPs certified might be a good idea, but besides that, don't bother.

you have to take the course. you can make more like 75-120 a night

I know that in MA you need to have gone to bartending school and be TIP certified. I'm sure it's not much different anywhere else unless you go under the table.

benfo's right, the places that will make you good money want you to be experienced so you can fire drinks out at will. a friend of mine went through the whole deal and just finally started getting fridays at a local dive after working there for a year(granted, they were forced to shut down for illegal gambling for like 8 months but that's neither here nor there).

you can make the same money being a waiter at a decent restaurant on a good night, and might not have to give up your weekends.

Protip: Go back in time, get a job at the Cambridgeport when you're 19. You'll be hip-deep in free drugs and women for whom their availability is conversely related to their desirability, but see "free drugs."

Also, you'll get a great course in "how to calm somebody down with a barstool."
