toggletoggle post by coathangerabortion at Apr 17,2008 3:16pm

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Apr 17,2008 3:37pm
I had a decimator and NS-2

I sold the decimator, the NS2 worked much better without loosing any signal quality.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 17,2008 3:39pm
my old ns-2 was a complete failure. added more noise to my whole setup and in the end shit the bed completely.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 17,2008 3:51pm
I still need to get that decimator fixed. it sploded internally

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Apr 17,2008 3:53pm
my NS2 shit the bed, and MAJORLY soaked tone it's whole life. I won't recomend that to anyone! Get a decimator pedal and forget about it.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Apr 17,2008 4:11pm edited Apr 17,2008 4:15pm
the hush is a piece of shit or your amp? I will put my rocktron up against the decemator any day...Mark has one and it has given him nothing but trouble.

youre crazy. you're telling me that your particular NS-2 just happened to be the only one in history that wasnt a huge tone sucker?

super cs are solid as long as you know how to dial it. mines never given me an ounce of issues.

here here

toggletoggle post by cav nli at Apr 17,2008 4:51pm
ive never had any problems with my ns2. i also dont use super high gain but it doesnt effect my tone, when i turn it off its just a little more feedback but the tone is the same.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 17,2008 5:02pm
try taking your ns-2 out of your signal path. youll hear it.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 17,2008 5:06pm
I've had issue with my Hush lately. My best left hand muting and how I dial it in it still adds an awkward click sound shortly after I start playing.

toggletoggle post by GodlessRob at Apr 17,2008 5:14pm
Nick,
I have a hush rackmount that I might be will to part with. Fairly cheap.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Apr 17,2008 11:47pm
that's what you need nick

+1!!!

I have the rackmount ISP Decimator and it's amazing. My amp coupled with the X2N I have in my bridge create SO much feedback and when I have the Decimator turned on, it's the quietest thing ever. It does take a bit of time to set up the thresholds but it's worth it for sure. Best $400 I've spent in a while. I've read and watched some videos on the pedal and seems to work pretty well comparably to the rackmount version.

but then im gonna want to spend money and i have none to spend :(

cav, even if it sounds 80% more awesome the sounds you get out of that XXX are great with the ns-2 in it.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 18,2008 10:35am
I think I'm proof that being outrageously picky about the small stuff leads you to spend all of the money you have on gear.

what i find hilarious is that your noise gate is as expensive as your head, your cab and your guitar.

My cab was $200 from the Mortalis guitarist, my amp was just under $600 and my guitar was $700 new and it has new pickups and a bunch of new hardware. I don't know if you were taking a jab at my head [:(] but I really like my set up. I'm putting in new power tubes so those should make up for any scratchiness the amp has. I know my tone hasn't been the greatest at the last few shows but damnit I'll make it work.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 18,2008 4:21pm
im not taking a jab at anything of yours, i was merely typing the exact thing i thought the first time i saw you guys play.

it wouldnt hurt to invest more in other things before a top of the line noise gate, in my opinion. what you have going for a rig isnt bad at all for your age. i had just purchased a blue voodoo halfstack when i was 18 eeeekkkk.

blue ain't no holla back girl

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Apr 18,2008 4:24pm
Haha, well if you heard my amp at practice or from older shows you would understand why I needed a noise gate. The feedback was ridiculous. I post on another forum made for the B-52 AT-100 and everyone there recommended the Decimator. I did a bunch of research and am actually really glad I did get it. Next purchase is either an equalizer or a new cab.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 19,2008 11:16am
EQ? no.

new cab? yes.

I just compared them heavily through my amps and with my perticular setup, I was getting equal feedback reduction but the NS2 wasn't fading pinch harmonics.

I compared them both for about an hour fine tuning each one, and then sold the decimator to Brian DC

toggletoggle post by blue  at Apr 20,2008 11:17pm
regardless of the gating issues, the decimator is by far the more transparent choice. the ns-2 has noticeable tone suckage.

toggletoggle post by fishcakes at Apr 21,2008 8:11am
HAHA! tone suckage

Not through my rig.

I ran them both through a peavey XXX (which the decimator did much better in front of) and a KRANK revolution (which niether won because that amp is terrible sounding).

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Apr 21,2008 9:11pm
Did you have the two channel decimator? Two channels is keeyyyyyyyy.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 21,2008 9:39pm
nah, the footswitch isn't quite so fancy

the rack unit is so good and I think I've got the shit that merits it....I don't have the money that does anymore though.

toggletoggle post by Martins   at Apr 21,2008 9:46pm
Oh it was the footswitch. I see. Ya the rack is ridiculous. I love it.

toggletoggle post by DJ DEATH at Apr 22,2008 11:30am
I actually just bought a NS-2. Sadly, id like to get the rack DECIMATOR, to try it out, but, my amp is a 1978 Marshall SuperLead, simply no insert loops in it. Decimator sounds like a tone saver, but, the NS2 is definetly more acurate on gating (since its a gate, not a supressor). Using multi pedals though, the NS2 will change its response as you go from Overdrive to Distortion....Just my opinion

Your head still sounds like sack, you need to fix that on Saturday. Did you order another power unit thang for you decimator?
