my lap top only has 60gb of space. i download shitloads of music and am running out of space. does anyone have any good ideas on where to store some of my mp3's? i've heard a little about external hard drives?

toggletoggle post by aril at Apr 17,2008 11:55am
just get external hard drive. you can get decent ones for under 100 bucks now... just plug it in to your USB port and BAM!

toggletoggle post by blumper of diarrhea NLI at Apr 17,2008 1:53pm
I got a Western Digital 500gb external little over a year and a half ago for 125... most likely has gone down in price since then. have had no problems with it

toggletoggle post by Grizloch   at Apr 17,2008 2:04pm
'bout 90-100$ for a 500gig, 190-220 for a 1000gig (aka 1 tb)
really your only option for a lapper, internals dont get very big, as far as I understand, and any other hosting is lame or time consuming

Check out newegg.com

I ordered a Seagate 320 GB Freeagent Pro at the beginning of this semester. It comes with USB, and eSATA jacks, but you can take it out and install dual 400 Firewire jacks (which also come with it). It's fast, awesome, and didn't cost me all that much. I also ordered it on a Wednesday, and had it by Friday. Very cool shit.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 30,2008 12:32pm
I have 2 250GB like that and they are both mad full.

If you're doing video editing with just a USB drive you run an almost certain risk of corrupting Avid, or FCP files.
