Norwegian black metallers DIMMU BORGIR are strongly rumored to have parted ways with drummer Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH, LOCK UP).

The group, who recently cancelled their Japanese/Australian tour, have yet to officially comment on the matter.

Barker joined DIMMU BORGIR in 1999 as a replacement for original drummer Tjodalv (a.k.a. Kenneth Åkesson). He has since appeared on two full-length studio albums with the band: "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" (2001, Nuclear Blast) and "Death Cult Armageddon" (2003, Nuclear Blast).

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Jan 26,2004 1:31pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 26,2004 1:37pm
how bout this one..
wonder why he left?
maybe they are making another adems family movie.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill@work at Jan 26,2004 1:37pm
it hadn't been said yet, so i had to throw it out there. maybe i should've been more creative and named a specific food, such as cheeseburgers, or watermelon, or maybe even quiche perhaps.

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Jan 26,2004 3:05pm
Maybe he left because the new album sucked.
Maybe he's too busy with Brujeria. [trying not to laugh]

toggletoggle post by retzam at Jan 26,2004 4:12pm
Wow, that's interesting. I hope not, but I would like to know why if it is true.

toggletoggle post by MyDeadDoll   at Jan 26,2004 4:57pm
i just wonder what he really is gonna do now...

i like mr. barker.

If it is true, they should get Hellhammer to fill in. Hehehe.

toggletoggle post by MyDeadDoll   at Jan 26,2004 5:09pm
i'm sure it is true. i was talking about it with
someone earlier and he said it was confirmed
on some website. i should have asked which.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 26,2004 5:21pm
hm.. I could make up a site that confirms anything...
and as homer j simpson said "people will believe anything that is even remotely true"

Hahaha, is that from the Mr. X episode? I love how when the computer loads you can clearly see his face before the bag goes over his head. Top drawer! Top...drawer...

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Jan 26,2004 8:06pm
that better be false

hahaha...i'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks the new cd wasn't great. i don't think it sucks, but it's like the same thing as puritanical only watered down musically and increased in production. lackluster...lackluster i say!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 26,2004 8:20pm
you've never used the word lackluster in your life!
the new CD is good.
not their best, but still better than most trash

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jan 26,2004 8:23pm
i have to used the word lackluster in my life! but it started back in like april or may, so it hasn't been that long. i heard my friend Hook say it whilst giving his opinions on the newest death by stereo release.

and thus, lackluster is an important component of my abundant vernacular. bitch.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jan 26,2004 8:25pm
i have TOO* i should say

toggletoggle post by DeOdiumMortis  at Jan 26,2004 8:53pm
Way to go using big words then using the wrong to/too/two. You're watered down musically and lackluster.

DIMMU BONER 3===D terrible

toggletoggle post by Abbath at Jan 26,2004 11:57pm edited Jan 26,2004 11:59pm
Dimmu was at their highest with Enthrone... but i would have to agree Mark that the new album does suffer from some problems. I can only think of "progenies" being the best song on the album. Alot of them tend to end up sounding the same. But if Nick did end up leaving i think it's gonna be a very hard drummer to replace....

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jan 27,2004 12:38am
i've been listening to enthrone alot lately. great album. i thought the new album was good. the second track is one of their best ever, i'd say. puritania is my favorite dimmu track though, so what do i know?

hey no need to take my friend tim's urban terror nick.

toggletoggle post by litacore   at Jan 27,2004 10:18am
I like Puritanical the most

toggletoggle post by retzam at Jan 27,2004 3:01pm
My favorite is a tie between Enthrone and Death Cult.

Damn, that sucks. I wonder why they aren't releasing to the public the reason that he left or if they kicked him out or whatnot.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Nov 28,2005 7:43pm

toggletoggle post by the rooster at Nov 28,2005 11:04pm
best part of the band. he made them pound.

toggletoggle post by the rooster at Nov 28,2005 11:05pm
damn you and your old assed threads!!!!

toggletoggle post by TOC nli at Nov 28,2005 11:57pm
I heard he left because he was weighing them down

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Nov 29,2005 10:39am
Hellhammer is filling in for the re-release of Stormblast, but otherwise he is not a full time member. at least not yet.

toggletoggle post by Ryan_M at Nov 29,2005 11:28am
why are they wasting their time re-recording stormblast? it's fine the way it is.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Nov 29,2005 11:36am
there are not enough parts that you can dance to

dimmu borgir post-stormblast=dance music

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Nov 29,2005 11:44am
(Why is this thread back?)

Seriously, it's a dumb, cash-out idea to record that, and there's no way for them not to fuck it up. The only question is how they're gonna fuck it up. Are they gonna do it note-for-note, no changes, just recorded at Studio Fredman? That album would sound ridiculous like that. Are they gonna go back and do it all fake raw Black Metal and try to necro it up? (Not fucking likely.) OR are they gonna drop fifty layers of Mustis synths and Galder "DOO-doo-doo-DOO-doo" riffs on top of it, with blast beats, and a guy who can actually sing? Yeah, probably, and why bother? Yecch...

toggletoggle post by Ryan_M at Nov 29,2005 12:59pm
personally i'd like to hear they are working on new material; i actually like "death cult armageddon" better than "stormblast"; as rediculous as that may sound to a lot of people.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Nov 29,2005 1:04pm
I have it and it's nothing special...

they pretty much ditched all the synths.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Nov 29,2005 1:14pm
i am a huge Dimmu fan, and i dont really get it either. i know why, i just dont think it needs to be done. the original possesses that element of youth, old school, and passion. overproduction will rob it of those elements. i hope they do this right. i have faith.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Nov 29,2005 2:14pm
i bet it'll be one of those things that has to grow on you

but yea...they should've spent all that time and effort on a new full length

I really like DCA too. I think there's a lot of good stuff on there.
